  • Patent number: 7712236
Abstract: An apparatus and method to quickly, easily and temporarily secure fabric to an ironing board or the like to facilitate the removal of hair, lint, or other particulate matter which is adhered to the surface of the fabric. The fabric to be cleaned is positioned on an ironing board in the same manner as placing the fabric on the board for ironing. A pressure applying member is placed over the fabric to be cleaned, most commonly near the longitudinal end of the fabric. Each end of the pressure applying member is connected to a tension mechanism such as a spring or elastomeric cord. The other end of the tension mechanism is connected, in turn, to a connecting means such as a J-hook. When the connecting means are hooked over the far and near edges of the ironing board, the tension mechanism is pulled taut, forcing the pressure member down with sufficient force to hold the fabric in place against the pull of a vacuum or lint brush.

  • Patent number: 5497570
Abstract: An ironing board cover having a front, a rear, two sides, a top and a bottom. The cover includes a top sheet, a sewn in flexible pad, a nose segment near the front of the cover, a heel segment near the rear of the cover, and two side segments. All the segments are attached to one another at seams, and the flexible pad is sewn into the bottom of the top sheet only about the circumference of the top sheet. The nose segment, side segment and heel segment are cut from a pattern so as to provide when joined with the top sheet a form fit ironing board cover. The heel segment and/or the nose segment include a box pleat to allow for the give of the heel and/or the nose segment when installing the ironing board cover on an ironing board. The box pleat in combination with the engineered segments providing for a tight yet flexible fit of the ironing board cover on the ironing board thereby providing a user with a non-stick and flexible surface upon which to iron.

  • Patent number: 5392543
Abstract: An ironing board cover assembly for covering an ironing board table has a cover having a fabric layer substantially the same shape as the surface of the ironing board table but having an area somewhat larger than that of the table so as to form a peripheral edge portion adapted to wrap around the peripheral edge of the ironing table. A drawstring is confined in a channel attached to or formed in the fabric layer peripheral edge portion. The drawstring runs the length of the peripheral edge portion. The cover has a series of openings spaced along the channel comprising at least one pair of first and second openings in the channel at opposing edge segments of the cover. The openings expose opposing segments of the drawstring. The cover assembly has an adjustable tensioning means such as a cloth tensioning strap for spanning the distance between the cover opposing edge segments when the cover is installed on an ironing board table.

  • Patent number: 5371961
Abstract: A cover for an ironing board has a sheet and a stretchable pad. The sheet has a front nose, a back and an underside and is shaped to cover the ironing board. This sheet has a marginal draw string for marginally securing the sheet to the ironing board. The stretchable pad has a shape complimenting the sheet. This pad is tacked to the underside of the sheet at a pair of spaced locations at the front nose and the back to partially allow the pad to slide relative to the sheet. Thus the pad can settle wrinkle-free on the ironing board with a degree of independence from the cover, and without a full barrier between the sheet and the pad.

Abstract: A tensionable ironing board cover shaped to fit a flat ironing board. This cover has an upper ironing surface segment which extends over the body and the neck portion of the ironing board, if desired, a pad segment located below the ironing surface segment and attached to it, which pad segment has substantially the same dimensions as the ironing surface segment, a rear pocket, arranged on the rear end of the board, a front pocket, having an upper and a lower surface, arranged on the front end of the ironing segment and located below the pad segment which can receive the front end of the neck of the board, and has a frontal nose edge and rearward edge, longitudinal flaps arranged on the longitudinal edges of the board, and tensioning means for adjustably connecting the nose edge of the front pocket to its the read edge so as to enable the separation between the nose edge and the rear edge to be reduced. This reduction causes the flaps to envelop the board more closely.

  • Patent number: 5164244
Abstract: A laundry iron lubricating means is provided comprising a fabric substrate having a coating containing a lubrication agent. In the operation of the device, the hot laundry iron is run over the coated fabric with normal pressure. The lubrication provided by a single pass reduces iron drag by 20 to 50%, adequate for the ironing of at least one large garment without need for a second pass. The greater the sole temperature of the iron, the greater the drag reduction.

  • Patent number: 4986395
Abstract: A combined suitcase and portable ironing board comprising a pair of suitcase sections each including a closed end surrounded by side walls and an open end. The suitcase sections are pivotably connected to one another along a side wall of each section so that the sections can be pivoted away from each other to an open position with the closed ends in the same plane forming an elongated, contiguous, substantially flat ironing board surface. A panel extends outwardly from the side wall of one suitcase section opposite the side wall which is pivotably connected to the other suitcase section and has a substantially flat surface lying in substantially the same plane as the closed ends forming an extension of the ironing board surface. Means are provided for supporting the panel in its outwardly extending position and for retracting the panel through an opening in the side wall when the panel is not in use.
