Power-operated Patents (Class 38/31)
  • Publication number: 20030226295
Abstract: A peripheral safety guard apparatus for protection of an operator of a garment finishing press. The guard bar encircles the press head and includes connection to a pivotable connector member positioned to connect with a reciprocating activation device controlling actuating valves in communication with a source of pneumatic power for movement of the press head. Upon manipulation of the guard bar by an operator, the guard bar moves in advance of movement of the press head between an open, inoperative position and a closed, operative position. After manipulation of the guard bar, the activation device actuates valves with resulting movement by transfer of pneumatic power of the press head between inoperative and operative positions. Movement of the guard bar in advance of the press head between inoperative and operative positions, protects the operator from entrapment of a body part during downward movement of the press head to the operative position.

  • Patent number: 5383291
Abstract: A pressing machine includes a bottom form, onto which pressing material is laid from an operating side, and a top form which can be lowered onto the bottom form and which can be lifted off from the bottom form. There is a guide for the top form, by which guide the top form, without a substantial change in its spatial orientation, is moved, in a first stroke, out of an initial position obliquely downwards towards the operating side over the bottom form. The top form is then lowered onto the bottom form essentially at right angles, and, in a second stroke, is lifted off from the bottom form essentially at right angles and is then moved obliquely upwards away from the operating side into the initial position.

  • Patent number: 5074065
Abstract: An ironing device automatically moves an ironing plate across an ironing table. A pneumatic jack is arranged integral with the ironing plate, supported by a guide including at least two columns, and is adapted to displace the ironing plate vertically. First and second carriages cooperate with first and second motors for moving the ironing plate across the surface of the ironing table. A manual control allows motion of the ironing plate either along the main axes of the carriages or along two axes diagonal with respect to the other axes. In preferred embodiments of the invention, various safety devices are employed to prevent the hot ironing plate from moving into zones which would cause injury to the user.

  • Patent number: 4862608
Abstract: An ironing apparatus used for making gather lines in a skirt, making creases in a garment such as a blouse, a shirt, or a pair of trousers, and smoothing out wrinkles in the trousers comprises an ironing table disposed horizontally on the working surface of a main body thereof, a pressing plate disposed opposite to and above the ironing table, and a lifting device for moving the pressing plate vertically to and from the ironing table. It further includes forward and backward and rightward and leftward moving apparatus so that the pressing plate can perform ironing through pressing in a vertical direction without disturbing the shape of the garment. Advantageously, the apparatus can thus be handled with ease and additionally, can protect an operator from receiving a blast of hot air emanating the pressing plate. The pressing plate is defined by a C-shaped support arm, the top end of which is located above the ironing table.

  • Patent number: 4280290
Abstract: The invention refers to a garment and like pressing machine comprising a stationary buck mounted on a frame and a complementary head moveably supported relative to the buck. The head is after the pressing operation initially elevated upwardly from the buck and then rearwardly away from the buck. The head is mounted at one end of a double-armed lever, which is pivotally mounted at the upper end of a column. The column is at its lower end pivotally mounted to the frame and is actuated by a power-operated jack. A second power-operated jack acts on one end of a second double-armed lever having the same pivot axle as the column. The opposite end of said second lever is connected to the first lever through a link. The second jack can by acting on the second lever move the head vertically downwardly into pressing contact with the buck and elevate it therefrom resp.
