Publication number: 20100088932Abstract: A steam appliance having a split handle with the upper part biased away from the handle base and an actuator for a water pump. When the appliance is pushed, the handle upper part is depressed and displaces a pump actuator to activate the pump. Use of a steam frame and steam towel allows an iron to be used as a steam cleaner. When a pole is mounted on the upper handle part, the appliance may be used as a steam mop that is activated by pushing the pole which depresses the handle to actuate the pump.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2009Publication date: April 15, 2010Applicant: EURO-PRO OPERATING, LLCInventors: Maximilian Rosenzweig, Ognjen Vrdoljak

Publication number: 20100037495Abstract: A steam appliance having a water pump controlled by an actuator or motion switch response to movement of the appliance is provided. In one embodiment, a micro-switch is turned ON and OFF by movement of a micro-switch actuator in operative engagement with the towel frame at the base if the appliance. In another embodiment, the actuator is operatively connected to a mechanical pump to activate the pump. The motor switch or actuator will be displaced whenever the unit is moved by a user, thus causing the pump to pump water to the boiler. Steam is then fed to a steam pad that may have a replaceable fabric pad fit snugly on the frame to distribute clean steam to a surface to be steamed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2009Publication date: February 18, 2010Applicant: Euro-Pro Operating, LLCInventors: Maximilian Rosenzweig, Ognjen Vrdoljak

Patent number: 5855082Abstract: A guard (22) that prevents damage or breakage to a device, for example, an electrical switch mechanism's housing (12) and its components associated with an iron (10). The guard (22) embraces the housing (12), being securely mounted with the housing (12) to a bracket (13) in turn securely mounted to the iron (10), proximate to the front end of its handle (14). It comprises a pair of panels (23, 24) joined together by a frontal panel (28), its rear being open. Its dimensions exceed the dimensions of the device's housing (12) to assure that impact from a force applied to iron (10) in the area of the location of the housing (12) absorbs whatever impact the force may produce, rather than the housing (12) itself being directly impacted by such force and thereby be damaged or broken along with its components.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1997Date of Patent: January 5, 1999Assignee: Frank L. Patent number: 5727343Abstract: Electric iron power cord tensioning is accomplished by a pair of clips. A guide clip includes a looped member to receive and restrict cord transverse movement to the area defined by the looped member. The guide clip resiliently attaches to the periphery of the working surface of an ironing board and/or to the periphery of the ironing board defined by an ironing board cover with the looped member extending outwardly from the ironing board. A weight clip resiliently engages and is suspended from the cord subsequent to the guide clip to pull the cord and maintain it. Cord interference with the iron during ironing is reduced since the cord is prevented from bunching up and becoming entangled with or obstructing the iron. Alternatively, a cord support may be disposed about the power cord adjacent the iron handle to elevate and maintain the cord above the ironing board. The support may be used alone or in combination with the guide and weight clips.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1996Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Inventors: John C. Wehner, Esther Sandoval
