  • Patent number: 8599320
Abstract: A picture conversion information supply section 130 calculates per frame an affine transformation parameter for picture conversion based on motion information about a moving picture. With reference to a reference picture, a picture conversion section 140 affine-transforms pictures making up the moving picture per frame using the calculated affine transformation parameters. Based on information indicating the center position, angle or scaling factor about the transformed pictures coming from the picture conversion section 140, a sound conversion information calculation section 190 calculates sound conversion information for converting the sound corresponding to the pictures. Based on the sound conversion information, a sound conversion processing section 200 controls the volume of each of the channels making up the sound, adds up the controlled sound of each channel, and outputs the result as output sound to speakers 220.

Abstract: A technique accesses a backup system. The technique involves receiving a logon command to logon a user to a website of the backup system. The backup system includes (i) a backup server and (ii) a web server which hosts the website to enable the user to control settings of the backup server. The technique further involves, sending, in response to receiving the logon command, a token request to the backup server through a pre-established secure data pathway to the backup server. Data is periodically backed up to the backup server through the pre-established secure data pathway. The technique further involves acquiring, in response to sending the token request, a logon token from the backup server through the pre-established secure data pathway. When the website receives the logon token during a logon operation, the website communicates with the backup server to determine whether the logon token is authentic.

Abstract: An RFID tag interrogator is described. The interrogator comprises a time-out circuit and an actuatable RF signal generator for transmitting an electromagnetic signal. Upon first actuation, the RF signal generator transmits a first electromagnetic signal having a first limited total continuous transmit time that is no longer than a predetermined transmit-time. That transmission is followed by an interim period of a defined length where the time-out circuit renders the interrogator incapable of transmitting the electromagnetic signal. The interim period is followed by the RF signal generator transmitting a second electromagnetic signal having a second limited total continuous transmit time that is no longer than the predetermined transmit time. The time-out circuit prevents the first, second and subsequent transmissions of the electromagnetic signal that are each no longer than the predetermined transmit time after a prior electromagnetic signal has been transmitted until the interim period has expired.

  • Publication number: 20130272522
Abstract: A method for verifying the authenticity and integrity of an ordered sequence of digital video frames, without having access to the original recording, by embedding therein a respective series of digital signatures based on a secret key, or keys, and on the video content of respective frames. Signatures are camouflaged by embedding in transform coefficients of a transformed representation of the video data in parts of the frame corresponding to motion. If there is sufficient motion to contain all of the signature bits, a supplementary technique embeds in high-texture areas of a frame. A final fall-back is to embed in a pre-defined default zone. A method of predicting when supplementary embedding is needed enables the process to be applied in a single pass allowing real-time operation. Verification is done during decoding by comparing, for identity, embedded signatures with signatures calculated anew using the method employed to embed.

  • Patent number: 8549307
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus are disclosed which enable flexible insertion of forensic watermarks into a digital content signal using a common customization function. The common customization function flexibly employs a range of different marking techniques that are applicable to a wide range of forensic marking schemes. These customization functions are also applicable to pre-processing and post-processing operations that may be necessary for enhancing the security and transparency of the embedded marks, as well as improving the computational efficiency of the marking process. The common customization function supports a well-defined set of operations specific to the task of forensic mark customization that can be carried out with a modest and preferably bounded effort on a wide range of devices. This is accomplished through the use of a generic transformation technique for use as a “customization” step for producing versions of content forensically marked with any of a multiplicity of mark messages.

  • Patent number: 8526610
Abstract: A novel method and apparatus for protection of streamed media content is disclosed. In one aspect, the apparatus includes control means for governance of content streams or content objects, decryption means for decrypting content streams or content objects under control of the control means, and feedback means for tracking actual use of content streams or content objects. The control means may operate in accordance with rules received as part of the streamed content, or through a side-band channel. The rules may specify allowed uses of the content, including whether or not the content can be copied or transferred, and whether and under what circumstances received content may be “checked out” of one device and used in a second device. The rules may also include or specify budgets, and a requirement that audit information be collected and/or transmitted to an external server. In a different aspect, the apparatus may include a media player designed to call plugins to assist in rendering content.

  • Patent number: 8520850
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for control of data and content protection mechanisms across a network using a download delivery paradigm. In one embodiment, conditional access (CA), digital rights management (DRM), and trusted domain (TD) security policies are delivered, configured and enforced with respect to consumer premises equipment (CPE) within a cable television network. A trusted domain is established within the user's premises within which content access, distribution, and reproduction can be controlled remotely by the network operator. The content may be distributed to secure or non-secure “output” domains consistent with the security policies enforced by secure CA, DRM, and TD clients running within the trusted domain. Legacy and retail CPE models are also supported.

  • Patent number: 8510549
Abstract: A method, device, system and computer program for providing a transport distribution scheme for a security protocol are disclosed. A first packet data connection is established to a remote node for transmitting packet data over a network with a security protocol. An authentication procedure is performed with the remote node via the first packet data connection for establishing a security protocol session with the remote node. At least one security parameter is negotiated with the remote node for transmitting packets through the first packet data connection. A second packet data connection is established to the remote node, and at least one security parameter is negotiated with the remote node for use with the second packet data connection. The first and second packet data connections are handled as packet data subconnections associated with the security protocol session.

Abstract: Methods and systems for a transport single key change point for all package identifier channels are disclosed and may include descrambling a received transport stream comprising multiple package identifier (PID) channels with multiple key change points, and synchronizing at least a portion of the multiple key change points to occur at a common time. The transport stream may be conditional access or copy protect scrambled. The timing of the key change points may be synchronized by modifying one or more scrambling control bits for the descrambled received transport stream. At least one PID channel in said descrambled received transport stream may be re-scrambled utilizing one or more of the scrambling control bits, and a portion of the PID channels may bypass the re-scrambling. The re-scrambling may include one or more of CP re-scrambling and CA re-scrambling. Each PID channel may be de-scrambled and/or re-scrambled utilizing a separate key.

  • Patent number: 8495755
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to finding coalitions of receivers who collude to produce pirated protected content, then evaluates the confidence that particular members of each identified coalition are traitors versus innocent receivers incriminated by chance. Typically, each file in a group of original files is modified to include variations of critical file segments. The group of files is then broadcast with individualized codes that enable particular authorized receivers to properly process the modified files. The modifications in a pirated version of a file can identify which traitorous receivers contributed to its piracy. Candidate coalitions of differing size are first evaluated to determine if they cover observed file variations with greater than a predetermined likelihood that an innocent coalition is falsely incriminated by chance. Individual members of satisfactory coalitions are then evaluated. Traitors may be cryptographically revoked.
