  • Patent number: 7983440
Abstract: A system and method are provided for selecting frames of a compressed video stream that may be used for client-side watermarking. In general, a content source evaluates a number of Intra-Frames (I-Frames) in the compressed video stream using a sample watermark that is similar to actual watermarks that may be used for client-side watermarking. More specifically, each of a number of I-Frames in the compressed video stream is evaluated by first watermarking the I-Frame with the sample watermark. Associated frames in the compressed video stream are then decoded using the watermarked I-Frame. An error value for the decoded video frames is then computed. If the error value is outside of a predetermined error threshold range, the I-Frame is selected as an I-Frame that may be used for client-side watermarking.

Abstract: Methods and systems are arranged to control the decryption of an encrypted application in a device executing the application, the device arranged with a secure environment to which access is strictly controlled by a device processor. The application is divided into an installation part that establishes proper set up of the application and a protected part which is to be executed in the secure environment. An advantage with the invention is that the application provider has the freedom to control the decryption of the application software. Since it is performed in the secure environment, the owner of the device is unable to access the application and thereby copy, read or manipulate it. Moreover, the application provider handles the installation of the encrypted application and the key for decrypting the application, and is thus given the possibility to handle the encryption/decryption schemes and the key management.

Ciphertext that includes the data is generated, using public key encryption, in a manner that allows only one or more target programs to be able to obtain the data from the ciphertext. In accordance with another aspect, a bit string is received from a calling program. An identifier of the calling program is checked to determine whether the calling program is allowed to access data encrypted in ciphertext of the bit string. The data is decrypted using public key decryption and returned to the calling program only if the calling program is allowed to access the data.

Abstract: Under a sectorized cell architecture in a mobile communication system, a scrambling code applied to multiplication of a transmission signal is selected and switched among different types of downlink physical channels in a unified manner. One of multiple transmission signals to be transmitted on a corresponding one of the different types of downlink physical channels is generated. A first code is selected according to the type of the physical channel to enable multiplying the transmission signal by the first code. The transmission signal is multiplied by an intracell common scrambling code used in common among sectors in a same cell in addition to or in place of the multiplication of the first code. The transmission signal multiplied by at least one of the first code and the intracell common scrambling code is transmitted on the corresponding physical channel.

Abstract: A system for detecting and identifying the identity of a base station or cell which transmits a scrambling code is provided. According to one aspect of the system, the system is used to perform scrambling code detection of eight (8) primary cells (each scrambling code's X-component being spaced sixteen (16) chips apart) in a group. According to another aspect of the system, a single scrambling code generator is used to generate a master scrambling code. The master scrambling code is then used to create individual scrambling codes which are used in correlation with received signals to detect in parallel which one of the eight (8) possible primary cells in the group transmitted the received signals. According to yet another aspect of the system, each of the correlators maintains a corresponding X-component segment of the master scrambling code.

Abstract: The present invention provides digital watermarks through multiple channels. The channels can include, e.g., visible, ultraviolet and infrared channels. The non-visible channels can be selected to fluoresce either in the visible or IR/UV spectrums upon the appropriate illumination in the infrared or ultraviolet spectrums. The watermarks in the various multiple channels can cooperate to facilitate watermark detection or to authenticate an object in which the watermarks are embedded. In other implementations the multiple watermarks include so-called orientation components. A relative relationship between the orientation components is used to convey data.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that allow multiple transmitting network devices to transmit under an orthogonal frequency divisional multiple access (OFDMA) mode to a receiving network device. The multiple transmitting network devices may be configured to perform constellation scrambling on the symbols they will be transmitting using a predetermined scrambling sequence. They may be further configured to synchronize their use of the sequence, for example, by advancing the sequence for each available subcarrier, such that the receiving device may view the payload as if it were sent by a single transmitter. Accordingly, these multiple transmissions may be descrambled using only one instance of a sequence generator.

This sensitive data to be printed is decrypted to create decrypted sensitive data. The decrypted sensitive data is converted into control signals for activation of the printing unit. The decrypted sensitive data is stored in a non-volatile memory such that the decrypted sensitive data are distributed in a plurality of memory segments of the non-volatile memory where a relationship of the memory segments is stored as relationship data independently of the stored decrypted sensitive data. The decrypted sensitive data is printed with the printing unit on a recording medium.
