  • Patent number: 10291253
Abstract: The present invention provides a digital to analog conversion method and system that uses piezoelectric effect and magnetic induction to reconstruct the infinite analog values between discrete digital samples. This magnetic-piezoelectric armature delivers an output analog signal of a smooth continuous nature that provides a more faithful representation of the original analog signal. The method and system use mechanical movement, which is continuous by nature since there is no quantization in the different positions a moving object can assume between two spacial points, to construct the signal approximation between digital samples. The magnetic-piezoelectric armature uses a highly sensitive piezoelectric material that moves a magnet in the proximity of a wire coil to induce a voltage signal reproducing the original analog signal. The piezoelectric material expands and contracts following the changes in voltage between digital samples which induces a corresponding continuous analog voltage signal in the coil.

  • Patent number: 8798308
Abstract: Systems and methods to remove heat from an acoustic enclosure are provided. An apparatus for reproducing acoustic signals includes an acoustic enclosure comprising an acoustic volume. A heat producing element is coupled to the acoustic enclosure, and a thermally conductive structure is thermally coupled to the heat producing element. The thermally conductive structure includes a first surface. A first passive radiator includes a first diaphragm. The first diaphragm extends over at least a portion of the first surface and moves in response to pressure variations within the acoustic volume. Movement of the first diaphragm causes air to flow over the first surface, to facilitate heat removal from the thermally conductive structure.

  • Patent number: 8781150
Abstract: A low frequency transducer arrangement includes a substantially cylindrical structure surrounding a pole piece. The pole piece and the substantially cylindrical structure define a substantially cylindrical air gap therebetween. Two opposite ends of the air gap are both open and separated from each other in an axial direction. A first magnet is disposed in either the pole piece or the substantially cylindrical structure. A second magnet is separated in the axial direction from the first magnet by a middle magnetic gap. The second magnet is disposed in either the pole piece or the substantially cylindrical structure. The first and second magnets provide flux in a same direction in the middle magnetic gap. A top magnetic gap is disposed axially adjacent the first magnet and opposite the middle magnetic gap. A bottom magnetic gap is disposed axially adjacent the second magnet and opposite the middle magnetic gap. A voice coil is at least partially disposed in the air gap and operates in the middle magnetic gap.

  • Patent number: 8750525
Abstract: A system is provided to protect a loudspeaker (144) by controlling a level of an applied audio signal. A control signal is generated by applying an input audio signal (115) to the collective operations of a gain control system (100). The gain control system (100) uses the input audio signal (115) in conjunction with at least one parameter to derive an estimated stress associated with the loudspeaker (144). The estimated stress is compared with a protection threshold stress (127). If the protection threshold stress is exceeded, a gain applied by a gain component (134) is selectively adjusted to modify the input audio signal (115). The resulting gain-controlled audio signal (116) is employed to drive the loudspeaker (144).

Abstract: The inertial transducer comprises a foot, a modular key, at least one suspension means having at least three contact points, and heat dissipation means comprising multiple heat transfer points. The foot alternatively includes an opening or a cap. The cap may be frangible. Preferably, the foot includes a cylindrical wall that extends within the inertial transducer and the foot's lower surface is coplaner with the lower surface of a housing of the transducer, thereby reducing stack height. The cylindrical wall may or may not be threaded and may accept a shaft from a receiving apparatus used to associate the transducer with a substrate.

  • Patent number: 8712065
Abstract: This invention relates to the mechanical protection using digital processing and a predictive estimation of instantaneous displacement of the voice coil in a loudspeaker transducer. The invention solves the problem of limiting the coil displacement of the transducer by applying a look-a-head based linear or non-linear predictor and a controller operating directly on the displacement signal in order to finally convert back into the incoming signal domain.
