Abstract: Systems and techniques for monitoring driver state are described herein. In an example, a driver state monitoring system is adapted to receive a set of color images of a person, such as images of a driver of a vehicle with varying levels of illumination in the images. The driver state monitoring system may be further adapted to generate a set of synthesized thermal images from the set of color images. The driver state monitoring system may be further adapted to use a trained thermal image face detector to locate a human face in the synthesized thermal images. The driver state monitoring system may be further adapted to use a trained thermal image facial landmark predictor to locate facial landmarks in the synthesized thermal images. The driver state monitoring system may be further adapted to analyze the facial landmarks in the synthesized thermal images to determine facial feature movements.

Abstract: A system trains a computer model to classify images and to draw bounding boxes around classified objects in the images. The system uses a combination of partially labeled training images and fully labeled training images to train a model, such as a neural network model. The fully labeled training images include a classification label indicating a class of object depicted in the image, and bounding box or coordinate labels indicating a number of objects of the class in the image as well as the location of the objects of the class in the image. The partially labeled training images include a classification label but no indication of where in the image any objects of the class are located. Training the model using both types of training data makes it possible for the model to recognize and locate objects of classes that lack available fully labeled training data.

  • Patent number: 10599925
Abstract: A method of detecting attempted fraud against a system recognising the iris of the human eye includes generation of a first image of an iris using first means of image capture in a visible light spectrum, and generation of a second image of said iris using second means of image capture in a near infra-red spectrum. The method also includes determination of at least one characteristic of the first image as a function of respective optical characteristics of pixels of a plurality of pixels of this first image and determination of at least one characteristic of the second image determined as a function of respective luminous intensities of pixels of a plurality of pixels of this second image. As a function of these determined characteristics, a signal representative of suspected detection of attempted fraud is generated.

Abstract: A head/eye tracking system comprising an image sensor for acquiring images of a user, a narrow band light source for illuminating the eyes, and a band-pass filter arranged between the eyes and the image acquisition device and having a pass-band corresponding to the emission spectrum of the light source at a predefined operating temperature. The system further comprises a heat source arranged in proximity to the light source and configured to preheat the light source to reach the predefined operating temperature. By shortening the period during which large temperature variation takes place, sub-optimal performance of the system can be accepted during this short period, thereby relaxing the requirements on light source and filter design.

Abstract: Systems and methods for robust biometric applications using a detailed eye shape model are described. In one aspect, after receiving an eye image of an eye (e.g., from an eye-tracking camera on an augmented reality display device), an eye shape (e.g., upper or lower eyelids, an iris, or a pupil) of the eye in the eye image is calculated using cascaded shape regression methods. Eye features related to the estimated eye shape can then be determined and used in biometric applications, such as gaze estimation or biometric identification or authentication.
