Abstract: The present disclosure covers systems and methods of efficiently filtering digital images. More particularly, the present disclosure covers systems and methods that generate and maintain a list of unique pixel values within a kernel window. Using the list, the systems and methods determine filtered pixel values for a filtered output image by processing only the counts of pixels in the histogram associated with the unique pixel values of the list. By considering selective pixel values of the histogram based on the unique pixel values of the list, the systems and methods reduce computations as part of the filtering process.

  • Patent number: 10168712
Abstract: A computing device of a first vehicle may receive a first image and a second image of a second vehicle having flashing light signals. The computing device may determine, in the first image and the second image, an image region that bounds the second vehicle such that the image region substantially encompasses the second vehicle. The computing device may determine a polar grid that partitions the image region in the first image and the second image into polar bins, and identify portions of image data exhibiting a change in color and a change in brightness between the first image and the second image. The computing device may determine a type of the flashing light signals and a type of the second vehicle; and accordingly provide instructions to control the first vehicle.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an image coding device and method, and an image decoding device and method for enabling the code amount of a chrominance signal in an image to be controlled. A chrominance signal quantization unit determines a luminance signal quantization parameter and a chrominance signal quantization parameter in units of CU by use of a luminance signal quantization parameter, a chrominance signal quantization parameter, and ChromaQPOffset from a rate control unit, and supplies the determined luminance signal quantization parameter and chrominance signal quantization parameter to a quantization unit. The chrominance signal quantization unit calculates a predictive quantization parameter predQP based on the quantization parameters of adjacent CUs. The chrominance signal quantization unit calculates deltaQP and ?QPC based on the determined luminance signal quantization parameter and chrominance signal quantization parameter and the calculated predictive quantization parameter predQP.

Abstract: Relational data for a database table having multiple columns (dimensions) is represented as a histogram. The buckets of the histogram are clustered into clusters, the clusters are fewer in number than the buckets of the histogram. Each cluster is represented in hyper-space as a line segment (vector) with a thickness value. Average frequencies for the line segments (vectors) and their thickness values are computed. The average frequencies are processed by a query optimizer when processing a query predicate of a query to use as an estimation of selectivity or an estimation of a cardinality of a join operation.

Abstract: In order to properly detect an outbreak of smoke using a photographic image, this detection device is equipped with an extraction unit, a calculation unit, and a detection unit. By using an image analysis result of an input image, that is, a photographic image captured of a scene under surveillance, the extraction unit generates an image for which a noise component is removed from the input image. By using brightness information contained in the generated image, the calculation unit calculates an attenuation factor of reflected light from a captured object in the input image. The detection unit determines whether an outbreak of smoke is present in the scene under surveillance based on the attenuation factor.

  • Patent number: 10013608
Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to visual inspection systems, and more particularly to a method and system for facilitating real time detection of linear infrastructural objects in aerial imagery. In one embodiment, a background suppression technique is applied to one or more hardware processors to a HSV image. Further, a mean shift filtering technique is applied to the hardware processors to find a peak of a confidence map and then a gradient image generation is performed for a plurality of edges of the image. A seed point pair along a middle cut portion of a linear feature of the HSV image to identify one or more boundaries of the seed point pair is extracted and then a contour growing approach to detect the boundaries of the linear feature is initiated. Lastly, one or more false positives are removed by using a rigidity feature, the rigidity feature being equivalent to the total sum of gradient orientations.

Abstract: In an image processing apparatus that can provide, to an image, an emphasis effect that serves as a focusing degree indicator, provision of an emphasis effect that is easily distinguished is realized. A signal generation circuit generates signals having values that correspond to the values of process target pixels of image signals. For example, based on the magnitude of a frequency component extracted from the image signals by an extraction circuit, a signal modification circuit applies signals to the process target pixels and outputs the process target pixels. The signal generation circuit generates signals so as to have values that decrease continuously or in a stepwise manner in accordance with increase in the values of the process target pixels.

Abstract: A vector graphics classification engine and associated method for classifying vector graphics in a fixed format document is described herein and illustrated in the accompanying figures. The vector graphics classification engine defines a pipeline for categorizing vector graphics parsed from the fixed format document as font, text, paragraph, table, and page effects, such as shading, borders, underlines, and strikethroughs. Vector graphics that are not otherwise classified are designated as basic graphics. By sequencing the detection operations in a selected order, misclassification is minimized or eliminated.
