  • Patent number: 11144765
Abstract: A method for scene frame matching for automatic content recognition. The method includes receiving fingerprints indicative of frames of a media stream. The method also includes obtaining scene centroids of corresponding scenes of the media stream. Each scene includes fingerprints ranging from an initial frame having a corresponding initial fingerprint and a last frame having a corresponding last fingerprint. Each scene centroid represents a mean of fingerprints corresponding to a respective scene. The mean of fingerprints is determined by an average of pixel values corresponding to the fingerprints of the respective scene. For each scene centroid, the method includes determining a distance between the respective scene centroid and a target fingerprint of a corresponding target frame of the media stream and determining a target scene of the target frame as being the respective scene of the scene centroid having a shortest distance to the target fingerprint of the target frame.

  • Patent number: 11090966
Abstract: A concealment substrate manufacturing process begins by printing or painting a graphic design as camouflage on substrates like mesh-textured uniforms, military equipment, Mylar thermal blanket sheets, adhesive tapes, etc. The graphic design is uniquely generated from pseudo-random noise in four overlaying color pigments that each begin as a raster of randomly generated noise in a standardized tile size. E.g., gray, green, tan, and brown colors natural for concealment applications are each masked by two-tone image contrast rasters. The four results are mixed together in groups with a monochrome mixing mask to produce a whole tile. Such concealment camouflage tile conjoins seamlessly on-edge within other arrays of identical tiles. One variation adds a distorted-grid mesh-texture overly texture to the concealment camouflage, and even a faint “watermark” related to a commercial trademark.

A video coder, such as a video encoder or a video decoder, may determine a bit-depth of a luma component of the video data and a bit-depth of a chroma component of the video data. In response to the bit-depth of the luma component being different than the bit depth of the chroma component, the video coder may modify one or both of the bit depth of the luma component and the bit depth of the chroma component such that the bit depths are equal. Abstract: A technique selectively avoids memory fetches for partially uniform textures in real time graphics shader programs and instead uses program paths specialized for one or more frequently occurring values. One aspect avoids memory lookups and dependent computations for partially uniform textures through use of pre-constructed coarse-grained representations called value locality maps or dirty tilemaps (DTMs). The decision to use a specialized fast path or not is made dynamically by consulting such coarse-grained dirty tilemap representations. Thread-sharing value reuse can be implemented with or instead of the DTM mechanism.

Abstract: A deep learning based compression (DLBC) system applies trained models to compress binary code of an input image to a target codelength. For a set of binary codes representing the quantized coefficents of an input image, the DLBC system applies a first model that is trained to predict feature probabilities based on the context of each bit of the binary codes. The DLBC system compresses the binary code via adaptive arithmetic coding based on the determined probability of each bit. The compressed binary code represents a balance between a reconstruction quality of a reconstruction of the input image and a target compression ratio of the compressed binary code.

  • Patent number: 10977553
Abstract: A deep learning based compression (DLBC) system generates a progressive representation of the encoded input image such that a client device that requires the encoded input image at a particular target bitrate can readily be transmitted the appropriately encoded data. More specifically, the DLBC system computes a representation that includes channels and bitplanes that are ordered based on importance. For a given target rate, the DLBC system truncates the representation according to a trained zero mask to generate the progressive representation. Transmitting a first portion of the progressive representation enables a client device with the lowest target bitrate to appropriately playback the content. Each subsequent portion of the progressive representation allows the client device to playback the content with improved quality.

Abstract: A decoding device, an encoding device and a method for point cloud decoding is disclosed. The method includes receiving a compressed bitstream. The method also includes decoding the compressed bitstream into 2D frames that represent a 3D point cloud, each of the 2D frames including a set of patches representing a cluster of pixels of the 3D point cloud. The method further includes identifying an occupancy map included in the compressed bitstream. The method additionally includes identifying valid boundary points located at a boundary of a patch of the set of patches based on the occupancy map and identifying valid neighboring points of each of the valid boundary points of the patch. The method also includes generating the 3D point cloud using the 2D frames based on the valid neighboring points and the valid boundary points.

  • Patent number: 10964068
Abstract: Methods and devices for attribute coding for point clouds. In a top-down coding process a predicted geometry-weighted sum of attributes is determined for each occupied sub-volume of a volume based on a prediction operation that uses at least a geometry-weighted sum of attributes for the volume. The prediction operation involves up-sampling data from the preceding (parent) depth of the coding tree. The predicted geometry-weighted sums of attributes and corresponding original geometry-weighted sums of attributes are subtracted, in the attribute domain or in a transform domain to result in residual coefficients. The AC residual coefficients are coded in the bitstream. The transform used has a DC coefficient property, whereby the DC coefficient from transform of the geometry-weighted sums of attributes for the set of child sub-volumes is the geometry-weighted sum of attributes for the volume.

An encoding unit generates a predicted image using a reference image. A transmission unit transmits inter_ref_pic_set_prediction_flag representing whether reference image specifying information specifying the reference image of a prior image that is an image prior to a current coding image in coding order is used as the reference image specifying information of the current coding image in a case where the current coding image is an image other than a first image of a GOP (Group of Picture). The present technology, for example, can be applied to an encoding device of an HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) system.
