Changing The Image Coordinates Patents (Class 382/293)
  • Patent number: 10614636
Abstract: Techniques for providing local geo-positioning using three-dimensional (3D) augmented reality (AR) markers are disclosed. A 3D AR marker located within an occupied space of a user can be displayed on a display of a computing device when the AR marker is within a field of view of the computing device. The 3D AR marker can be identified based on information stored in a storage device of the computing device. Physical attribute information of the 3D AR marker and location information for the 3D AR marker can be retrieved. A distance between the computing device and the 3D AR marker based can be determined based on the physical attribute information. A location of the computing device can then be determined based on the determined distance between the computing device and the 3D AR marker and the location information of the 3D AR marker.

Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for performing semi-global matching (SGM) path cost compression. In some examples, the techniques may perform disparity-dependent sub-sampling of a set of SGM path costs where the sub-sampling ratio is determined based on a candidate disparity level. The sub-sampled SGM path costs may be stored in a memory. When retrieved from memory, the sub-sampled SGM path costs may be interpolated to reconstruct the other path costs not stored in the memory. The reconstructed path costs may be used for further SGM processing. In further examples, the techniques may perform disparity-dependent quantization on the SGM path costs or the sub-sampled SGM path costs, and store the quantized SGM path costs in memory. The techniques of this disclosure may reduce bandwidth as well as reduce the memory footprint needed to implement an SGM algorithm.

Abstract: A system and method, which may be an offline method, extracts relevant image features about listing items in a network-based publication system for enabling image similarity searching of such listing items. When a seller lists an item, an image of the item is uploaded and may be sent to a picture processing service, which generates several digests. The digests are compressed data structures each representing a particular image feature such as edge, color, texture, or words. These digests are then stored in a search database, where the digests can be used to retrieve listings by image similarity at scale. A similar process can be performed for a query listing for searching the search database for items similar to the query listing.

Abstract: A method of generating view-dependent compensated images is disclosed. A uniform image is projected on a reflective screen, resulting in a first captured image. The distribution of specular highlight is predicted according to the first captured image, thereby obtaining model parameters. Calibration images are estimated according to the model parameters and a viewing angle, and a compensated image is generated according to the calibration images at the viewing angle.

  • Patent number: 9036934
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image encoder includes a sorter, a PCM (pulse code modulation) pixel inserter, an encoding unit and an output stream generator. The sorter accepts an input stream comprising a plurality of original pixels included in original image data in a raster scan order and changes arrangement of the original pixels to generate sorted data. The PCM pixel inserter outputs a PCM pixel in accordance with a predetermined PCM pixel insertion interval. The encoding unit conducts difference encoding processing by using the PCM pixel and the sorted data to generate encoded data. The output stream generator inserts the PCM pixel at a PCM insertion position in the encoded data corresponding to a coordinate of the original pixel to generate an output stream.

Abstract: A method of displaying a map on a wireless communications device, the method comprising obtaining map data for rendering the map to be displayed on the wireless communications device and determining a zoom level of the map. If the zoom level of the map exceeds a predetermined zoom level, corrected map data is generated by applying a fixed spherical correction factor to the map data. If the zoom level of the map does not exceed the predetermined zoom level, the corrected map data is generated by computing a spherical correction factor based on a latitude of the map. The method also includes rendering the corrected map data to display the map on a display of the wireless communications device.

Abstract: Stitched images generated from combinations of multiple separate images mostly have irregular boundaries. Users generally prefer rectangular boundaries. Techniques for warping an image with irregular boundaries to give the image rectangular boundaries are disclosed herein. Preliminary warping of the image into the rectangle provides a rectangular shape on which to overlay a mesh. The image is reverted to its original shape with irregular boundaries and the mesh is warped accordingly. Global optimization is applied to the image by finding an energy minimum, or reduced energy below a threshold, for a function that gives the image a rectangular shape while preserving shapes and preserving straight lines. The mesh is warped according to the solution of the function and the image is stretched and/or compressed along with the mesh. This approach generates results that are qualitatively more visually attractive than other contemporary techniques.

  • Patent number: 9031357
Abstract: A temporal information integration dis-occlusion system and method for using historical data to reconstruct a virtual view containing an occluded area. Embodiments of the system and method use temporal information of the scene captured previously to obtain a total history. This total history is warped onto information captured by a camera at a current time in order to help reconstruct the dis-occluded areas. The historical data (or frames) from the total history match only a portion of the frames contained in the captured information. This warping yields warped history information. Warping is performed by using one of two embodiments to match points in an estimation of the current information to points in the captured information. Next, regions of current information are split using a classifier. The warped history information and the captured information then are merged to obtain an estimate for the current information and the reconstructed virtual view.
