  • Patent number: 11127124
Abstract: A curve sampling technique for generating transformed digital visual content is leveraged in a digital medium environment. Initially, a curve sampling system obtains digital visual content, e.g., images and videos. The curve sampling system generates transformed digital visual content by transforming one or more pixels of the digital visual content using a lookup table that is derived from samples of a curve taken at evenly spaced intervals along a y-axis of a graph of the curve. Broadly speaking, the curve defines how to transform a visual characteristic of the pixels in order to achieve a desired digital visual content transformation. Additionally, the curve sampling may correspond to one step in a series of steps for transforming colors of digital visual content. Indeed, such transformations may involve multiple curve sampling steps.

An initially filled canvas is then generated by filling the unfilled portion using a content aware fill technique based on the inserted digital image. A plurality of polar coordinate canvases is formed by transforming original coordinates of the canvas into polar coordinates. • Patent number: 10616443
Abstract: An auto-rotation module having a single-layer neural network on a user device can convert a document image to a monochrome image having black and white pixels and segment the monochrome image into bounding boxes, each bounding box defining a connected segment of black pixels in the monochrome image. The auto-rotation module can determine textual snippets from the bounding boxes and prepare them into input images for the single-layer neural network. The single-layer neural network is trained to process each input image, recognize a correct orientation, and output a set of results for each input image. Each result indicates a probability associated with a particular orientation. The auto-rotation module can examine the results, determine what degree of rotation is needed to achieve a correct orientation of the document image, and automatically rotate the document image by the degree of rotation needed to achieve the correct orientation of the document image.

  • Patent number: 10318803
Abstract: In a text line segmentation process, connected components (CCs) in document image are categorized into three subsets (normal, large, small) based on their sizes. The centroids of the normal size CCs are used to perform line detection using Hough transform. Among the detected candidate lines, those with line bounding box heights greater than a certain height are removed. For each normal size CC, if its bounding box does not overlap the bounting box of any line with an overlap area greater than a predefined fraction of the CC bounding box, a new line is added for this CC, which passes through the centroid of the CC and has an average slant angle. Each large size CCs are broken into two or more CCs. All CCs are then assigned to the nearest lines. A refinement method is also described, which can take any text line segmentation result and refine it.

The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is used to estimate global spatial shifts. In one embodiment, the distorted image is first scaled to the size of the original image before being rotated. In another embodiment, the original image is first scaled to the size of the distorted image before rotating the distorted image, and finally scaling it to match the original image. Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining the distortions in the projection system of a TEM, and a method of correcting for these aberrations. The aberrations are determined by collecting a large number of images of a sample, the sample slightly displaced between each acquisition of an image. On the images sub-fields (303, 304-i) showing identical parts of the sample are compared. These sub-fields (303, 304-i) will show small differences, corresponding to differential aberrations. In this way the differential aberrations in a large number of points can determined, after which the aberrations for each point can be determined by integration. By now correcting the position of each detected pixel in an image to be displayed, the displayed image has much reduced aberrations. An advantage of the method according to the invention is that no highly accurate steps of the sample are needed, nor is a sample with known geometry needed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for aligning raster and vector data. In an embodiment, a raster/vector aligner receives raster data and an approximate vector of a feature within the raster data. The raster/vector aligner generates an edge signal by edge filtering the raster data along a direction of the approximate vector and a smoothness signal by smoothness filtering the raster data along a direction of the approximate vector. The raster/vector aligner combines the edge signal and the smoothness signal into a combined signal which is used to generate a translation vector or a signal weight for the feature within the raster data.

Abstract: Embodiments of a processing systems and methods can unbend an image of facing pages of a bound book. An exemplary processing system can comprise an edge-detection unit, a keystone-correction unit, a flattening unit, and a conversion unit. After an image is received by the processing system, the image can be processed in turn by each unit. The edge-detection unit can identify edges of a document in the image. The keystone-correction unit can reduce or remove keystoning in the image, thereby correcting horizontal distortion of the document. The flattening unit can flatten or straighten text or objects in the image, thereby correcting vertical distortion of the document. The conversion unit can convert the image to a desired color profile. Accordingly, the processing system can process an original image into a more easily readable and digitally manipulable image.

Abstract: The technology disclosed relates to scanning of large flat substrates for reading and writing images. Examples are flat panel displays, PCB's and photovoltaic panels. Reading and writing is to be understood in a broad sense: reading may mean microscopy, inspection, metrology, spectroscopy, interferometry, scatterometry, etc. of a large workpiece, and writing may mean exposing a photoresist, annealing by optical heating, ablating, or creating any other change to the surface by an optical beam. In particular, we disclose a technology that uses a rotating or swinging arm that describes an arc across a workpiece as it scans, instead of following a traditional straight-line motion.

Abstract: Methods and a computer program product for deriving a super-resolution image of a physical object, the super-resolution image characterized by a resolution exceeding a “camera imaging resolution” associated with each of a sequence of lower-resolution images of the physical object. The sequence of images of the physical object is obtained at a plurality of relative displacements with respect to the object. An offset is passively associated with each of the plurality of images to derive effective camera movement, allowing for calculation of a kinetic point spread function on the basis of the effective camera movement. The image sequence is deconvolved, using the kinetic point spread function, to solve for a high-resolution image. Various applications such as portable cameras and infrared imaging for energy conservation are described.

Abstract: Systems and methods for matching a received image with a template image are disclosed herein. Such systems and methods can advantageously enable an image captured by a mobile device (such as a smartphone or digital camera) to be correctly identified by the processing application. In some embodiments, the received image is first resized in one or both dimensions in order to match or approximately match the dimensions of a given template. The received image and template image can then be superimposed. Next, an optimal translative transformation value can be calculated in order to generate a confidence level for the current possible match. After confidence levels for each template are generated and recorded, the template with the highest confidence level can be selected as the best match for the received image.

Abstract: Systems, devices, features, and methods for generating and/or using a multi-layered image are disclosed. For example, a method of creating a multi-layered image from a three-dimensional model of a geographic area includes receiving three-dimensional graphical object data that represents a geographic area. The three-dimensional graphical object includes multiple geographic features. A first graphical layer of a first geographic feature of the three-dimensional graphical object is rendered as a first independent image layer. A second graphical layer of a second geographic feature of the three-dimensional graphical object is rendered as a second independent image layer. The first graphical layer and the second graphical layer are combined or overlaid to form the multi-layered image. Also, removal of layers may occur in a reverse order of their creation and/or may avoid causing gaps within the other layers not removed.
