  • Patent number: 8620094
Abstract: An image and supplementary information of the image, such as a photographing point and time, are input by an image input section and are stored in an image data storage section. Character recognition in the image is performed by a character recognition section, and the recognition result is stored in a character recognition result storage section. An analysis section extracts object character information relevant to an object from the image, the supplementary information, and the character recognition result on the basis of the analysis conditions input in a designation section to thereby analyze an object, and the analysis result is output to a result output section. Accordingly, a change in the object can be analyzed by analyzing a change in character patterns indicating the identical object.

  • Patent number: 8611593
Abstract: A foreground object detection system and method establishes a background model by reading N frames of a video stream generated by a camera. The detection system further reads each frame of the video stream, detects the pixel value difference and the brightness value difference for each pair of two corresponding pixels of two consecutive frames for each of the N frames of the video stream. In detail, by comparing the pixel value difference with a pixel threshold and by comparing the brightness value difference with a brightness threshold, the detection system may determine a foreground or background pixel.

  • Patent number: 8582925
Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for employing GUI-based non-numeric slide buttons and bar meters to setup and monitor operating parameters of a vision system. Graphical representations of operating parameters are displayed in a parameter box on the GUI with moving bars that are shaded, patterned or colored so as to provide a relative level between two extremes on a scale of the given operating parameter. Input of operating parameter settings with respect to the scale is made by moving a setting slider along the scale between the extremes. The position of the slider establishes the user-input setting relative to the scale. In an illustrative embodiment, scales, level bars and setting sliders can also be displayed on the image view itself, adjacent to a given image view feature, which is the subject of the scale.

  • Patent number: 8532338
Abstract: A method and system for compensating for motion blur in optical navigation adds a correction offset to an image navigation value to adjust for varying velocities along a moving web. Reference and comparison images are acquired at different times from a moving web. An optical navigation value is computed representative of the movement of the web from the reference image to the comparison image. Blur distances for the two images can be calculated. A navigation error correction value is computed as one-half the difference between the reference blur distance and the comparison blur distance. A compensated navigation value is computed by adding the error correction value to the computed navigation value to compensate for varying web velocities.

Abstract: A storage unit stores a plurality of pieces of image information and a plurality of pieces of position information corresponding to respective ones of the plurality of images individually. The storage unit correlates the plurality of pieces of image information with respective ones of the plurality of pieces of position information individually. The plurality of images is displayed on the display based on the plurality of pieces of image information and the plurality of pieces of position information, respectively. An image selection unit selects at least a first image and a second image from the plurality of images. An information interchange unit interchanges first image information of the first image with second image information of the second image, or interchanges first position information of the first image with second position information of the second image.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus for processing image data including character information, the processing of image data including a process of inserting interpretation information corresponding to the character information. The information processing apparatus includes an image data acquisition unit, an interpretation information retrieval unit, an area information definition unit, and an insertion style determination unit. The image data acquisition unit acquires the image data including the character information composed of a plurality of characters having a first string of characters. The interpretation information retrieval unit retrieves first interpretation information to be attached to the first string of characters. The area information definition unit computes insertable area information on a first insertable area, usable for inserting the first interpretation information, based on coordinate data of characters in the acquired image data.

  • Patent number: 8290298
Abstract: A method edits an input video to produce an output video. Pixels of the input video are partitioned into sets of pixels, wherein the pixels in the sets are adjacent, and for each set of pixels performing the following steps. A trellis having nodes connected by directed links is constructed. Each node corresponds to one of the pixels in the set of pixels, and each node is associated with an action and location of the pixel in the output image. Costs are assigned to the nodes and the links, wherein the costs are on apparent motion in the input video. A least cost path is determined through the trellis. Then, for each node on the path, apply the action associated the node to the corresponding pixel in the input video to edit the corresponding pixel at the location in the output video associated with the node.

Abstract: In a method for acquiring data from a machine-readable document for assignment to fields of a database, individual data are extracted substantially automatically from the document and entered into the corresponding database fields. If data cannot be extracted from the document with a desired degree of reliability for one or more particular database fields, then the steps are executed of displaying the document onto the display screen, displaying on the display screen the at least one or more database fields for which the data cannot be extracted with the desired degree of reliability, and executing a proposal routine with which string sections in the vicinity of a pointer movable by a user on the display screen are selected, marked, and proposed for extraction.

Abstract: A change amount detector calculates the amount of change between frames in a predetermined display range in an image corresponding to image data. When the calculated amount of change is larger than a first threshold, a redundancy determining portion determines the number of data of redundant data such that the number of data of the redundant data for image data in the predetermined display range is increased. A communication controller transmits data containing image data based on the determined number of data of the redundant data.

  • Patent number: 8238664
Abstract: Even if an image processing apparatus which can recognize a certain character string is available on the network, processing results of an OCR process are determined by character recognition ability of an image processing apparatus which has happened to perform the OCR process. Thus, after an MFP performs a character recognition process based on image data contained in a character region of an image, if it is determined that processing results of the character recognition process are highly likely to contain recognition errors, the processing results are output to another MFP together with first information which indicates a high likelihood of the processing results containing recognition errors. Upon acquiring the processing results, the other MFP with higher character recognition capabilities performs a character recognition process on the image data contained in the character region if the first information is attached.
