  • Patent number: 7841722
Abstract: A projection system includes an image processing apparatus, a projector having an optical modulation element and a projection optical apparatus, and a digital communication unit. The image processing apparatus performs a projector correction process to generate first correction processed image data and an original display correction process to generate a second correction processed image data and generates difference data for a difference between the first correction processed image data and the second correction processed image data, and transmits the difference data to the projector through the digital communication unit. The projector performs the projector correction process on the image data to generate the first correction processed image data and a correction process based on the difference data on the first correction processed image data to generate the second correction processed image data, and controls the optical modulation element based on the second correction processed image data.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for virtual bowel cleaning are disclosed. A first CT volume data record of an area of the bowel of interest is produced, in which voxels relating to a bowel content are identified and are suitably modified in order to obtain a modified data record without visible bowel contents, which is then visualized. In at least one embodiment of the method, at least one further volume data record is produced of the area of interest, which was recorded by a CT scanner with a different spectral distribution than the first volume data record which was recorded by a CT scanner, with at least some of the voxels relating to the bowel content being identified on the basis of information about a local density and/or atomic number, which is obtained from data in the first and the further volume data record taking account of the different spectral distributions. In at least one embodiment, the method and the apparatus make it possible to increase the reliability of virtual bowel cleaning.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus decodes a coded stream to obtain pixel data, and decides a filter coefficient for each pixel data. The filter coefficient is used for filtering of the pixel data by multiplying the pixel data and pixel data located around the pixel data by filter coefficients, respectively and adding multiplication results. The image processing apparatus determines effectiveness of adaptive control of the filter coefficient to be used in the filtering, and outputs adaptively controlled filter coefficient if the effectiveness is high, or outputs the filter coefficient, which is not adaptively controlled, if the effectiveness is not high.

Abstract: This application describes a system and associated methods for enabling users of video editing, compositing, motion graphics, and other applications to easily store and retrieve presets, have presets modified for compatibility with other applications, share presets with each other, and search for shared presets. The users may utilize different applications that store presets according to different application-specific schemas. The system can automatically translate or conform presets from one application-specific schema to a neutral schema and from the neutral schema to another application-specific schema. This allows a user of one application to share his or her presets with users of different applications. Among other things, this cross-application sharing of presets allows the system implementor to create one user community (e.g., of users of different applications), rather than several individual ones (e.g., an individual user community for each different application).

Abstract: A processing-coefficient decision unit decides a processing coefficient based on a format of the stream. A target-PTS decision unit multiplies an input PTS value by the processing coefficient, to set this as a target PTS used to determine the continuity of the pictures. A reference-PTS calculation unit sets the target PTS as an initial value of a reference PTS, sequentially adds an increment corresponding to the PTS value per picture, and calculates the reference PTS which is compared with the target PTS. A difference calculation unit calculates a difference between the target PTS and the reference PTS. A threshold determination unit compares an absolute value of the difference with the processing coefficient being a threshold and determines whether the absolute value of the difference is less than the processing coefficient.

  • Patent number: 7524069
Abstract: A projector has a transmission time information reception unit for calculating the distances between a transmitter and first and second ultrasonic receivers based on reception times of ultrasonic and infrared pulses transmitted from a transmitter-equipped pointer rod for pointing to positions on a projection surface. The projector also has an image correcting information calculation unit, which, when a test pattern made up of a plurality of reference points including a plurality of points near the corners of the upper and lower edges of the projection surface is projected onto the projection surface, generates a coordinate transformation table to bring the coordinates of the reference points near the upper edge into conformity with the coordinates of corresponding desired corrective points, from the distance information acquired by the transmission time information reception unit through the transmitter-equipped pointer rod and positional information of the desired corrective points.

Abstract: A code reading device includes an acquisition section, a derivation section and a correction section. The acquisition section reads a two-dimensional code image and acquires image information representing the two-dimensional code image. The derivation section derives an image characteristic quantity representing a ratio between a number of white pixels and a number of black pixels for a pre-specified region of the image information acquired by the acquisition section. The correction section, on the basis of a result of comparison of the image characteristic quantity derived by the derivation section with a reference value corresponding to the pre-specified region, applies correction to the image information to bring the image characteristic quantity closer to the reference value.

Abstract: A biometrics authentication device uses biometrics information to perform individual authentication, and securely registers biometrics information for an authorized agent other than the principal. Within an IC card, registered biometrics information of a principal is verified against biometrics information detected by a detection unit, and when biometrics authentication of the principal is satisfactory, access is permitted to modify data for an authorized agent in the IC card, so that biometrics information for the authorized agent can be securely modified in a card in which is registered biometrics information for the principal. Similarly, illicit modification access of a card in which is registered biometrics information of the principal by a person impersonating an authorized agent can be prevented.

Abstract: A mobile communication terminal with a camera and a dual-display unit, whereby, in an image capturing mode, a first display unit displays an image of a subject received through a camera in real time and a second display unit displays a still image of the subject captured according to an image capture command signal received from a user, and in an image editing mode, when one of at least two or more images displayed on the first display unit is selected, the selected image is displayed on the second display unit, and at the same time, when a certain function icon provided to the first display nit is selected, a function allocated to the selected function icon is executed. An image of a camera preview and a captured image are displayed on each different display unit, so a user can capture a moment an image is to be captured and check the recently captured image by naked eyes, enhancing user convenience and providing fun to users.

Abstract: A compensating technique, implemented as an image processing block inserted in a chain of sequential image processing blocks, is used to achieve custom tuning at an end-user site to provide a customer a desired image quality (IQ) different from the factory calibrated one, or to simply compensate for drift in the image quality due to a number of factors including environmental conditions and/or system aging. The compensating techniques use a higher order polynomial to correct an actual input/output parameter relationship such that it is acceptably close to a pre-determined input/output parameter relationship for a given measurable parameter related IQ.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer systems and program products, to provide an image editing application including a perspective editing tool for performing edits in regions of an image having perspective. The perspective editing tool enables the user to identify one or more regions having perspective, i.e., perspective areas. The user can perform various editing operations on an object such that the edited object conforms to the perspective of the perspective area. The image editing application can also automatically create a perspective area from an existing perspective area. The editing tool enables the user to move objects from a source perspective area to a destination perspective area such that the edited object conforms to the perspective of the destination perspective area.

  • Patent number: 7466875
Abstract: Legibility of text in an image of a page is determined by comparing a measure of the text in the page image with a measure of the page image itself. In one aspect, a measure of the text in the page image may be the height of a line of text, while the measure derived from the page image may be the height of the page image. A text-to-page height ratio is determined and compared to one or more thresholds for determining legibility. In another aspect of the invention, a measure of the text in a page image is obtained by measuring the word density in the page image, while the measure derived from the page image comprises compressing the page image and determining the size of the compressed image file. Legibility is then determined by comparing the measure of word density with the compressed image file size.
