A cover patch (226) is sealed over the handle patch (222) overlapping the edges of the handle patch (222) and simultaneously with the side gusset laminate (218) all around, such that a predefined area is left unsealed between the two parallel openings. The longitudinal edges of the side gusset laminate (218) are folded such that the handle patch (222) comes on the outer surface of the continuous open tube (242) being formed. The continuous open tube (242) is thereby used for manufacturing the flexible package (300).

Formation of the gusseted package is effected by positioning individual sleeves transversely of the longitudinal axis of a flexible web which forms the package body. During package formation, the inwardly extending side gussets are formed, and the flexible web is cut to form individual packages, such that each individual sleeve forms a bottom gusset in a respective one of the gusseted packages.

Abstract: A carry-on package bag includes a bag opening and two primary bag sheets opposite to each other. Top edges of the primary bag sheets collectively define the bag opening. Each primary bag sheet includes a first fold line, a first foldable sealing section below the first fold line, and a second foldable sealing section between the first fold line and the top edge. Each first foldable sealing section has at least one first carrying hole. Each second foldable sealing section has at least one second carrying hole symmetric with respect to the first carrying hole about the first fold line. The second foldable sealing sections are foldable along the first fold lines toward the same direction to be overlapping and stacked on the first foldable sealing sections so that the second carrying hole and the first carrying hole correspond to and communicate with each other.

A polymeric zipper is attached to the inside of the facing sheets parallel to and between the top and bottom edges. A respective reinforcing patch is positioned on the inside surface of each of the two respective facing sheets and between the zipper and the top edge. An opening through each reinforcing patch and in the face overlying each patch defines a bag handle.

Abstract: A bag has a front panel, a back panel, and a gusset, each having a thermoplastic ply at its interior face. The interior face of the gusset is thermally welded to the interior face of the front panel and back panel at respective joins from which extend respective panel extensions which are also thermally welded to each other at a third join. Extensions of the gusset cover parts of the respective panels and are thermally welded to them. Other parts of the panel extensions are not covered by the gusset extensions and are welded to each other to form the third join. The extensions can form a handle part for the bag.

The panels confront each other at the top portion of the package to form an interface through which the package may be filled. The top portion of the package is reinforced with reinforcing layers to form at least one top extension, which includes a handle for supporting the package.

Abstract: A bulk container bag of a flexible fabric has an essentially cubic configuration wherein vertically extending baffles are provided in the interior corners of the bags to permit the bags to better retain their cubic configuration and to improve stability when filled. The baffles have slits defining flaps, alternatively, apertures and flaps, so that the loose granular material captures the flaps after it is filled in the bulk container bag. A method of filling the bag with granular materials is also provided.

Abstract: A new package for storing bulky goods is disclosed. The package is formed from a bag having a width and depth at its base portion and meeting at a top edge, the top edge having no depth. Due to the top edge having no depth, the width of the material on the top portion of the package extends out further than the width of the material on the base portion. To create a package having streamlined aesthetic that looks nice on a shelf, the excess material in the top portion of the bag is folded into the interior of the bag to form a false side gusset. To allow for such folding the bag, in desirable embodiments, side edges of a first and second web forming the bag angle inward at between about 30 degrees and about 60 degrees at a top portion transition point on the bag.

A transport mechanism moves the film from the extruder, through the flattener, into the fold maker, beneath the presser, into the sealer and to the cutter.

The pouch has a top opening with a fitment, and is expandable from a collapsed, unfilled condition to an expanded, filled condition. When the pouch is in the filled condition and resting on a flat surface, the panel structure supports the pouch in an upright orientation in which the fitment opening faces upward. The panel structure also provides the pouch with a flat footprint upon which the pouch overlies the flat surface. Abstract: A novel bag for holding, transporting, and pouring a bulk product is provided. The bag comprises two handles, with one handle being primarily configured for carrying (but also useful for pouring), and the other being primarily configured for pouring. The handles are positioned on adjacent sides of the bag, with the pouring handle being positioned near the bottom half of the bag to facilitate a controlled tilting of the bag. In one embodiment, the bag also includes a third handle on the same side of the bag as the pouring handle.
