Abstract: A collapsible bag for displaying and holding an item includes a plurality of panels attached to one another to define an interior in which the item is disposed. The panels are formed of a fabric material except for a top panel that is formed of a transparent, flexible plastic material to permit viewing of the item. The plurality of panels define side walls and a first end wall that are foldable along fold lines so as to cause each side and end wall to fold over itself resulting in the bag collapsing when the interior is empty. The plurality of panels further includes a selectively openable second end panel though which the interior is accessible when the second end panel is opened.

Abstract: A soft shell, flexible storage tank is provided, including corners of an improved configuration adapted to resist leaks. The walls of the tank and the corners are relatively more rounded and larger in radius than those of conventional flexible tanks. The walls and the improved corners act together to resist leaks. The rounded corners tend to reduce the effective pressure in the tank walls by loading the seams predominantly in shearing stress when the tank is filled with a liquid. The rounded corners are developed as panels, which are thermally bonded to produce secure and reliable liquid-tight seams. Each of the panels is bonded by lapped seams to others of the panels. Each of the rounded corners includes a generally triangular corner that is bonded to at least three other panels. In effect, the flexible storage tank functions as a pressure vessel, which tends to resist leakage.

Abstract: A bag made of flexible sheet material having an opening defined by a periphery. Juxtaposed with the periphery is a closure zone. The closure zone has induced extensibility in a direction perpendicular to the opening of the bag so that handle ties may be conveniently formed upon extension of the closure zone material. The handle ties are bound together to form an integral closure for the bag. The induced extensibility is provided by a network of dual regions having different modes of extensibility. The dual region network also provides the advantage of an increased gripping surface for forming the handle ties.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a resin bag whereby the peripheral edge of the bag such as a resin air baa is not bulky, the bonding strength is still sufficient, and the productivity is increased, is provided. A first resin sheet 1 and a heat-resisting sheet 3 are overlaid on each other and are disposed in a cavity 13 of a mold 7. The diameter of the heat-resisting sheet 3 is smaller than that of the first resin sheet 1 so that a portion of the sheet 1 is exposed outside the heat-resisting sheet 3. After injecting resin 2′ into the cavity 13 through a sprue bush end 12, the resin 2′is pressed and expanded to mold a second resin sheet 2 and bond the sheet 2 to the sheet 1 at the peripheries thereof.

  • Patent number: 6257764
Abstract: An insulated shipping container includes a formed body of foamed polymer material. This formed body defines a chamber, an opening from the chamber outwardly to ambient, a transition surface surrounding this opening, and an exterior surface. Preferably, the chamber and exterior surface are both cylindrical prismatic shapes of like configuration so that a uniformly thick wall of insulative foamed polymer material is provided between the chamber and ambient. A single sheet of plastic is integrally bonded to the foamed polymer body such that it faces all of the chamber, the transition surface, and a substantial portion of the exterior surface of the container. In one embodiment of the container the remainder of the exterior surface of the container is faced with a separate sheet of plastic, and the two pieces of plastic cooperate to define an escape slit at which excess foamed polymer material escapes during formation of the container in a fixture.
