The cover is a generally rectangular sheet of material preferably rip stop nylon, having a drawstring pocket at the bottom, and a heavy webbing along the side margins. In use, the cover wraps around the fender with one eye projecting below the drawstring. The drawstring passes through the eye and then extends to be used as the lacing to lace the cover to the fender. Extensions of the webbing form a hanger strap having grommets therein for being secured to turnbuckles fastened to the boat. The fabric cover may have a reflective exterior surface for night safety, and the strap may be used as a sling for carrying or for throwing the fender when used as an auxiliary float in man-overboard situations. • Patent number: 4822179
Abstract: Semi-bulk transport bags having wide lifting members, each lifting member formed from a plural layer folded strip of plain fabric woven from flat ribbon tape, of the same type as used for the bodies of the bags; these relatively stiff lifting members are anchored at the tops of the bags, and are positioned to distribute lifting stresses across wide segments of the side panels. One construction uses four lifting loop members, one at each corner of a rectangular bag; the edges of the ends of each loop are overlapped and tacked into the bag corner by the corner seams that join the side panels of the bags, without folding the side panels over the lifting members, materially reducing manufacturing costs. In another construction, using only two lifting members, the ends of each lifting member are anchored into wide vertical hems on just two side panels of a rectangular bag, allowing use of a lighter weight plain fabric material for the other two side panels without sacrifice of bag strength.

  • Patent number: 4658432
Abstract: A large-sized transportation container for the transport of material in bulk comprises a side wall structure that is formed with four equally sized, substantially rectangular wall portions each of which is a separate cut-up of a woven fabric. The wall portions are interconnected at mutually overlapping edge portions by means of four corner seams which are each stitched with a zigzag-stitch. With this side wall structure a bulk container is obtained which has a factor of safety in respect to the forces acting on the wall which is six times higher than the safety factor of the known containers.
