  • Patent number: 5303454
Abstract: In the case of a textile machine comprising drafting units that are disposed next to one another, the bottom cylinders are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the machine so that they continue along several or all drafting units. The continuous bottom cylinders are disposed at several bearing points which are arranged at a spacing from one another in the longitudinal direction of the machine. It is provided, in the case of the delivery bottom cylinder, to design at least some of the bearing points such that they can be radially adjusted. • Patent number: 4867580
Abstract: A bearing take-up apparatus is provided which allows easy removal of a bearing block supported by the bearing take up apparatus. Two slotted end walls extend from a base to support the threaded rod used with the bearing block and to prevent lateral movement of the rod. A covering piece has holes in one of its ends, which line up with a hole in an end wall. A throughbolt secures the covering piece to at least one of the slotted endwalls via holes in the endwalls, so that the throughbolt forms a hinge for the cover piece, when the other end of the covering piece is released. The threaded rod can be lifted and the bearing removed, when the cover piece is hinged upwards, about the throughbolt. The cover piece includes components to hold the threaded rod down when the cover piece is secured at both of its ends.

  • Patent number: 4859087
Abstract: A journal bearing block (10) has opposed sides (62, 63) received in sliding relation between the opposed sides defined by gibs (14, 16) of a slot (18) of a printing press sideframe (12). One of the gibs (14) has an elongate groove (54) and one of the bearing block sides (62) has an adjacent elongate groove (74). A key (86) is received by the bearing block groove (64) and includes an outstanding portion (90) extending into the gib groove. The key includes a threaded opening (70) and is connected to the bearing block by a rotatable adjustment screw (74). The key is narrower than the bearing block groove but substantially the same thickness as the gib groove, whereby rotation of the adjustment screw causes the key to travel laterally in the bearing block groove with the result that the bearing block, with its rotary die journal travels laterally relative to the sideframe (12).

  • Patent number: 4780000
Abstract: A rod end has a split clamp housing which supports a bearing for transferring motion or loading forces from an actuator to another part to be loaded. An adjustable stop for the clamp is used to adjust the backlash of the bearing used with the rod end to a desired level without causing distortion. A spherical washer set is used for transferring loads between the two clamp portions. The housing for the bearing is clamped against the spherical washer set at a preselected loading so that the bearing is able to rotate and swivel as needed, but backlash is removed.

  • Patent number: 4760789
Abstract: An adjustable mounting mechanism for a distribution roller in a printing, duplicating or like machine which includes a moisture or ink system having a plurality of distribution rollers for distributing moisture or ink to a printing couple of the machine. A pair of fixed rollers and a removable roller are located on the machine in a triangular configuration with parallel axes of rotation. The adjustable mounting mechanism includes a triangulated array of pivot arms movable generally perpendicular to the axes of the rollers. Two of the pivot arms define a V-shaped yoke to cradle the removable roller, and the other pivot arm defines a clamp for holding the removable roller in the cradle. Each of the other two pivot arms and, therefore, the removable roller is adjustable generally radially toward and away from the respective fixed roller to adjust the pressure or gap between the removable roller and the respective fixed roller.
