Patent number: 5833370Abstract: The present invention relates to an oil-retaining bearing for a rotary machine. In the oil-retaining bearing for a rotary machine according to the present invention, a first lock section is provided in a bearing housing; a first thrust spacer is relatively rotatably mounted in the vicinity of the end face of the oil-retaining bearing for a rotary machine; the first thrust spacer is provided with a second lock section, in engagement with the first lock section; a second thrust spacer is relatively non-rotatably mounted on the rotating shaft; and a third thrust spacer having elasticity is relatively rotatably mounted on the rotating shaft; the third thrust spacer being interposed between the first thrust spacer and the second thrust spacer.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1997Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: Japan Servo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Junichi Ikeda, Naoya Ito, Masahiro Mimura, Takeaki Tamabuchi

Patent number: 5320303Abstract: A thrust washer structure for dissipating axial frictional forces caused by a forward thrust of a pinion gear in a fishing reel having a deck plate with an axial bore through the deck plate and a bushing having a rearwardly facing surface and an axial cylindrical bore therein disposed within the bore deck plate. The reel further includes a center shaft having a pinion gear thereon disposed within the axial cylindrical bore of the bushing, the pinion gear extending rearwardly from the bushing. The thrust washer structure includes at least one thrust washer having two radial surfaces. One radial surface is in contact with a bushing. The coefficient of friction of the radial surface in contact with a bushing is such that when the thrust washer is subjected to a forward thrust and the center shaft is rotated, slippage does not occur between the bushing and the radial surface in contact therewith.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1991Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Zebco CorporationInventor: John W. Patent number: 5285984Abstract: A fishing reel of the type having a deck plate and a center shaft extending forwardly through the deck plate. The center shaft is rotatable about a first axis. A pinion gear is mounted on the center shaft. A crank shaft is rotatable about a second axis transverse to the first axis. Structure is provided for rotating the center shaft about the first axis as an incident of the crank shaft rotating about the second axis. A washer surrounds the center shaft and resides between the pinion gear and the deck plate, the washer having a peripheral outer edge. Structure is provided on the deck plate radially outside of the center shaft and overlapping at least a part of the washer in a lengthwise direction relative to the center shaft for limiting shifting of the washer transverse to the first axis and thereby preventing interference between the washer and at least one of the center shaft and pinion gear during operation of the reel.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1991Date of Patent: February 15, 1994Assignee: Zebco CorporationInventor: Lorens G. Patent number: 4859088Abstract: A thrust bearing assembly including a tubular mount conformed to receive an axially loaded shaft, the shaft being formed as a cylindrical shank terminating in a circular cap receivable in the interior of the mount. A selected number of rings is then stacked onto the shank to transfer lateral loads to the mount with a complementary number of discs being inserted below the cap for taking out axial loads. Each of the discs, furthermore, include oppositely arced grooves on the faces thereof for dynamic pumping of lubricating oil conveyed through the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1988Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Inventor: Richard A. Patent number: 4726695Abstract: A hydrodynamic thrust bearing adapted for positioning between a fixed base and a moving member spaced from said fixed base, the moving member having a rigid flat face confronting the fixed base, wherein the hydrodynamic thrust bearing includes a thin metal disk having undulations extending radially outward from the center of the disk in a symmetrical manner throughout one entire surface of the metal disk, and a planar face on the other side, the disk is positioned between the fixed base and the rigid flat face of the moving member whereby the undulations of the disk are in contact with the rigid flat face and the planar face is in contact with the fixed base, lubricant is supplied between the disk undulation and the confronting rigid flat face of the moving member whereby thrust movement relative to the disk will produce a very thin film of lubricant between the undulations of the disk and the cooperating rigid flat face of the fixed base.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1986Date of Patent: February 23, 1988Assignee: Anatech, Inc.Inventor: Merle R. Patent number: 4653139Abstract: A caster wherein the web of the bifurcated frame for the wheel and the carrier for the frame define a plain thrust bearing which allows the frame to swivel relative to the carrier about an axis extending at right angles to the axis of the wheel. The frame and the carrier have abutting surfaces and are held against axial movement away from each other by a ring-shaped coupling.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Assignee: Albert Schulte Sohne GmbH & Co.Inventors: Fritz Vollberg, Lothar Steinhaus
