  • Patent number: 6821021
Abstract: The invention concerns an instrumented antifriction bearing device, provided with a non-rotating part including a non-rotating ring and sensor element, a rotating part including a rotating ring and encoder, and at least a row of rolling bodies arranged between two raceways of the non-rotating and the rotating rings. The non-rotating sensing element and the rotating encoder form an assembly detecting rotation parameters. The device includes a maintenance device for temporarily maintaining the angular indexing of the encoder relative to the sensing element in an angular position, wherein the encoder generates in the sensing element a reference signal. The maintenance device temporarily maintains the angular indexing device in position until released, as for example, by the axial displacement of at least part of an element of the device towards the row of rolling bodies.

  • Patent number: 6725720
Abstract: A surface to serve as a surface under ultrasonic inspection has a roughness of 0.4 &mgr;mRa or less, and wherein all imperfections existing a controlled volume X corresponding to all cross sections of a raceway ring 1 assume a length of 0.2 mm or less as represented by the square root of areas of the imperfections. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a rolling bearing which does not become short-lived and obviates a concern about occurrence of cracking even when used in a harsh environment.

  • Patent number: 6710593
Abstract: A rotary position sensor is formed with a self-lubricating bearing. The rotary position sensor includes a race which forms one bearing surface. A drive arm assembly forms a bearing element forming two mating bearing surfaces. For applications in which the bearing may be subjected to environmental conditions that could result in corrosion, one bearing surface may be formed from a corrosion resistant metal, such as stainless steel, while the mating bearing surface is homogeneously formed with the bearing element from a composite material which includes PFTE or Teflon. By homogeneously forming the bearing element from a composite material which includes Teflon, wear of the bearing element will not effect lubrication of the bearing.

Abstract: A bearing is provided including a first part provided with a first coil (4) and a second part rotatable with respect to the first part about a bearing axis and being provided with a second coil which is electromagnetically coupled to the first coil. The first and second coil are magnetically enclosed by a first covering and a second covering, respectively. The first covering is fixed to the first part and the second covering is fixed to the second part. An air gap is formed between facing ends of the first and second coverings, with at least one of the facing ends of the first and second coverings being provided with at least one recession, such that the air gap varies when the first part and second part rotate with respect to each other. This may be used to provide an indication of speed (bearing rotation) without further sensors.
