  • Patent number: 5302032
Abstract: A bearing comprises a metallic outer tube having a flange, a inner tube of resin having a flange, radial rollers, thrust balls and a collar. A plurality of roller receiving grooves are formed on the outer periphery of the inner tube, while a plurality of roller receiving recesses are formed on the flange of the inner tube. The receiving grooves are formed in parallel relation to the bearing axis. The receiving recesses are formed circumferentially in concentric relation to the bearing axis. Each of the rollers received respectively within the receiving groove is rotatable. Grease is possibly apply to an outer peripheral surface of the inner tube body and a flange surface thereof. The cylindrical outer tube covering the entirety has both ends which are bent toward the axis. As corrosion countermeasure, it is preferred to form metallic parts of the bearing with stainless steel.

  • Patent number: 5234270
Abstract: The elements of an axially-aligning, eccentrically-adjustable, three-ring anti-friction roller bearing are arranged to compensate for inevitable small deformation and bore alignment errors for the journals of blanket cylinders of printing presses. Rows of rolling elements are disposed between the three bearing rings, the outer one of which has an arcuating curved swing surface. For the purposes of increasing the radial rigidity of the anti-friction mounting and for taking radial forces, the roller bearing rows include cylindrical roller bearings. In addition, there are provided, at least at one axial end, ball bearings or cross-roller axial bearings to resist axial forces. The three bearings rings are braced relative to one another axially and/or radially by a lock nut or the like threaded on the journal for urging the inner bearing ring against the bias of a spring engaging a shoulder on the journal on the other side of the bearing.

  • Patent number: 5212995
Abstract: A profiler particularly adapted for finishing the surfaces and contours of dies and molds. The profiler employs a cam assembly which converts rotary input motion to reciprocating output motion for operating a reciprocating member having a suitable tool attached thereto. The profiler is designed to generate substantially lower temperatures within the bearings supporting the cam assembly, and the bearings themselves are particularly designed to be easily replaceable in a sleeve which, with the bearings, form a bearing cartridge. The use of the bearing cartridge eliminates the need to individually install each bearing within the housing of the profiler. The bearing cartridge also includes a shaft which delivers the rotary motion from an external source to the cam assembly. Both the cam assembly and the bearing cartridge are disposed within a cavity in the housing.

  • Patent number: 4963041
Abstract: A bearing mounting with self-compensation for thermal expansion. A rotor is mounted in a housing by way of a first bearing having an outer race mounted in the housing and an inner race mounted on the rotor. The inner and outer races are relatively axially movable. A second bearing is mounted on an end of the rotor. A resilient member maintains the inner race in engagement with the outer race in response to relative axial movement between the inner and outer races due to varying thermal expansion rates between the housing and the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4915514
Abstract: A housing (1) of a rotary machine comprises a low-pressure side (2) and a high-pressure side (3), working-fluid inlet and outlet channels, and at least one rotor (7), which when the machine is working is urged by a working fluid towards the low-pressure side (2). The rotor includes a thrust balancing arrangement (15, 16) for relieving the load on the thrust bearings (11) of the machine, through the medium of an auxiliary bearing (17) and in dependence on pressure fluid supplied to the thrust balancing arrangement, the pressure of which fluid is contingent on the operating conditions of the machine. A relatively large part of the axial load is taken-up by an auxiliary thrust bearing (17), which is readily replaceable. The auxiliary bearing (17) is mounted on an outermost part of the rotor journal shaft (18), on the high-pressure side (3) of the rotor, between a detachable locking device (27) for the auxiliary bearing (17) and the thrust balancing arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4848936
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bearing device particularly intended to be used in the type of poker vibrator whose rotor shaft (2) exhibits an eccentric arranged between two needle roller bearings (3,4). Besides being carried in these bearings, the rotor shaft (2) is also carried in a deep-groove ball bearing (5) intended to take up any axial forces acting on the rotor shaft. In order to relieve it from radial forces, the deep-groove bearings (5) is mounted in accordance with this invention with a positive clearance in both the radial and axial directions. The radial clearance can thereby be provided either between the deep-groove ball bearing's outer race (6) and the bearing sleeve (7) or between its inner race (8) and the rotor shaft (2). The purpose of the axial clearance is to permit the radial movement of the deep-groove ball bearing (5) that is the purpose of the radial clearance.

  • Patent number: 4833934
Abstract: In a worm wheel for a roller worm drive, each roller is movable along its axis relative to the body of the wheel, and biased towards an extended position by a spring. The springs are mounted in the space between inboard and outboard bearings associated with each roller, so as to conserve room within the roller wheel and hence permit use of large, robust, anti-friction bearings. In particularly preferred arrangements, the outboard anti-friction bearing can be used to limit outboard movement of each roller relative to the wheel body, and may also serve to transmit inboard-directed thrusts from the roller to the body via the biasing spring. The overall arrangement provides enhanced load carrying capacity and compactness in roller worm drives.
