  • Patent number: 6115213
Abstract: A magnetic disk drive which is to be used for recording and/or reproducing information, and a bearing assembly for use in the same magnetic disk drive. The bearing assembly includes two bearings of different diameters, of which a small-diameter bearing is arranged within an inner periphery of a large-diameter bearing. The two bearings are joined by means of bearing coupling members for connecting respectively inner rings and outer rings of the bearings. The small-diameter bearing is arranged within the inner periphery of the large-diameter bearing, and therefore a height of the bearing assembly can be made thinner to about one and a half times a height of a single bearing. It is therefore possible to make the magnetic disk drive smaller and thinner by employing this bearing assembly.

  • Patent number: 5311091
Abstract: A dual drive motive system used to control the movement or position of another system or structure in a first and second embodiment has two motors, two frame members and a ring moveably mounted between the frame members by means of suitable bearings. One of the motors provides continuous relative motion between the ring and one of the frame members which may be secured to a foundational structure. The other motor provides relative motion between the ring and the other frame member which may be secured to a turret structure. This motion avoids the transient disturbances of lubricants. In a third embodiment, the system includes two armatures which share a common stator. In operation, the armatures and stator which are concentrically positioned rotate relative to each other and in opposite directions. In a fourth embodiment, the armatures share a common stator and the armatures are coaxially positioned.

  • Patent number: 5234270
Abstract: The elements of an axially-aligning, eccentrically-adjustable, three-ring anti-friction roller bearing are arranged to compensate for inevitable small deformation and bore alignment errors for the journals of blanket cylinders of printing presses. Rows of rolling elements are disposed between the three bearing rings, the outer one of which has an arcuating curved swing surface. For the purposes of increasing the radial rigidity of the anti-friction mounting and for taking radial forces, the roller bearing rows include cylindrical roller bearings. In addition, there are provided, at least at one axial end, ball bearings or cross-roller axial bearings to resist axial forces. The three bearings rings are braced relative to one another axially and/or radially by a lock nut or the like threaded on the journal for urging the inner bearing ring against the bias of a spring engaging a shoulder on the journal on the other side of the bearing.
