When the engine operates, heat is transferred through the runner to the solid lubricant to melt the lubricant. Rubbing of the runner against the biased solid lubricant will also melt the lubricant. The melting lubricant is carried by the cooling air through the bearing to provide both cooling and lubrication for the bearing.

Even if metal abrasion powder is produced by effect of perfluoropolyether or hydrofluoric acid, it will be held embedded in the solidified lubricating oil, so that abnormal wear will not occur.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of making a foil component of a foil bearing, where the foil component has an inner surface, an inner portion, and an outer portion. In one embodiment, and by way of example only, the method includes thermally spraying a first material onto an outer surface of a sacrificial substrate to form the foil component inner portion, where the first material includes a solid film lubricant, and the outer surface has a shape that is complementary to the inner surface of the foil component. A second material is then thermally sprayed over the inner portion to form the outer portion, and the second material includes a metal. The sacrificial substrate is then removed to expose the foil component.

    Abstract: A rolling bearing made of stainless steel is provided which in use conditions where hydrofluoric acid or fluorine grease is present, can prevent boundary lubrication due to invasion of metal corrosion powder into rolling surface of the bearing, and rapid advance of internal wear and which is highly durable and has a long life even if used in metal corrosive environments. The solidified lubricating oil is made by heat curing a mixture of lubricating oil or grease containing perfluoropolyether and a thermoplastic resin. Contact seals made of fluorine rubber seal the solidified lubricating oil. Even if metal abrasion powder is produced by effect of perfluoropolyether or hydrofluoric acid, it will be held embedded in the solidified lubricating oil, so that abnormal wear will not occur.

After sintering of the pulverized powder to form bearing metal layer, the bearing metal layer is pressed and densified. After densification, the bearing metal layer is annealed, again pressed, and then coated with a resin having good sliding properties.

The mold is composed of an outside mold, an inside mold and an intermediate mold, which is made of a substance larger in thermal expansion than other substance for the outside and inside molds.

The turn wheel assemblies are configured to engage the conveyor chain and provide continuous lubrication and cleaning to the conveyor chain.
