  • Patent number: 11396865
Abstract: The present invention relates to wind turbine generator (WTG) with a ball bearing (31) supporting a rotating shaft. A suction provider (35), e.g. a rotating disc, is provided next to the ball bearing. An opposite grease reservoir (41) supplies the ball bearing with grease during rotational operation, the grease reservoir further having a shape so that a point (43) of the at least one grease reservoir being closest to the rotating shaft and a grease inlet of the ball bearing are adjoining. The suction provider creates a pressure which is slightly lower than atmospheric pressure, thereby creating a suction of grease (47) through the ball bearing from the grease reservoir, which aids in distributing the grease in the ball bearing. The invention provides an improved ball bearing having an extended lifetime of up to e.g. 7-10 years.

These covering rings (17, 18, 11, 12) are such that, in pairs, they form a labyrinth seal. The covering rings (11) coordinated with the outer, i.e. the fixed, bearing ring (7) are provided with an injection nozzle (31) for lubricating oil and compressed air and with an outflow orifice (22) for water which has entered and a discharge orifice (36) for the lubricating oil.

  • Patent number: 5150975
Abstract: The bearing lubricating system comprises a casing having a bore which defines a reservoir and a well sized to receive a sufficient volume of a suitable liquid lubricant. A return passage in the casing allows fluid flow from the well to the reservoir. A shaft extends through the reservoir and through the well. At least one bearing is situated in the bore between the reservoir and the well. A pumper element is mounted on the shaft for rotation therewith within the well. A pair of end seals seal off the opposite ends of the bore from the ambient.

  • Patent number: 5131498
Abstract: An automatic transmission has a rotational shaft with an axial through-hole. The shaft is supported by a case through bearings at opposite ends thereof. In the hole, a cup-type plug with holes is engaged with the shaft at one end thereof. A lubricating means is disposed in the case facing the holes for distributing a lubricating hydraulic fluid to bearings disposed at each end of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4942944
Abstract: Apparatus to lubricate generator bearings with an oil-air mist is disclosed. A screw pump, preferably an assembly of components comprising a ring, a teflon seal, a pump rotor and a hub is secured onto a rotor shaft of a generator for rotation therewith. The rotor shaft has at least one passageway extending radially from an axial bore therein through which oil is transferred. The screw pump has a first orifice coincident with the rotor shaft passageway, a second orifice, a passageway extending from the first orifice to the second orifice through which the oil is directed into a cavity in the generator housing where it mixes with air to form a mist to lubricate the bearing, a circumferential surface fitting within an opening in the generator housing, and a helical groove in the circumferential surface through which the oil-air mist is evacuated during rotation of the generator rotor shaft.

  • Patent number: 4541736
Abstract: A system for cooling and lubricating the drive motor of a centrifuge. The shaft of the motor includes an internal passage with an inlet having a size and taper sufficient to provide the desired rate of cooling oil flow through the motor. A lower bearing proportioning arrangement applies a high percentage of a small proportion of the total oil flow to the lower bearing. An upper bearing proportioning arrangement applies a low percentage of a large proportion of the total oil flow to the upper bearing. Together these features assure a high degree of motor cooling without overlubricating the bearings.

  • Patent number: 4527661
Abstract: An adaptive control system for a machine tool or the like includes a temperature sensor for measuring spindle bearing temperature and two pairs of thrust sensors for measuring radial and axial spindle deflection. Data processing apparatus, typically comprised of a microcomputer, is coupled to the temperature and thrust sensors and regulates the percentage of oil in the oil-air mixture lubrication mist sprayed on bearing contact surfaces in accordance with bearing temperature. The microcomputer simultaneously regulates the spindle bearing preload and spindle axis feedrate in accordance with radial and axial spindle thrust, thereby assuring optimum machine tool performance.
