Adjustment Means Patents (Class 384/519)
  • Patent number: 5807070
Abstract: A fixed bearing for a radial or diagonal flow compressor is guided in a damping bush whose axial position can be fixed by means of a reconciling plate to establish a desired running gap with respect to the compressor housing. The damping bush has a receiving device for a supporting element which rests against the reconciling plate, such that the supporting element and the reconciling plate are removable when the damping bush is disposed in the compressor housing. When the rotor is mounted, the required thickness of the reconciling disk can be determined and this reconciling disk can then be inserted without removing the rotor or the damping bush for the adjustment of the desired running gap.

  • Patent number: 5507094
Abstract: A wheel spindle and bearing assembly for either a non-drive or driven wheel of a vehicle includes a unitary spindle of substantially constant diameter along the bearing section which includes dual raceways formed in the outer surface. Dual annular arrays of antifriction elements are seated in the raceways and are held captive by dual outer support rings, thus providing relative rotation between the spindle and the rings. The support rings are preferably mounted for telescoping movement relative to each other between a retracted position in the direction of the axis of the spindle to allow loading of the antifriction elements and an axially extended position for applying an opposed, axial preload force to the bearing assembly. In the axially extended position the rings form a gap between opposed faces and a split, annular keeper is positioned in the gap and held in compression to secure the entire assembly. The cross section area of the keeper is slightly larger than the gap to establish the preload force.

  • Patent number: 5411337
Abstract: A locking ring assembly retains a bearing to a shaft rotatably supported on a first axis of rotation. Guide pins extend axially from an annularly shaped bearing retainer slidably disposed on the shaft toward the pressure ring, also slidably on the shaft. A head of the guide pins is slidably disposed and captured in adjusting apertures of the pressure ring. Pressure screws in the adjusting apertures of the pressure ring translate axially in the apertures of the pressure ring when rotated, engaging the guide pin heads to displace the pressure ring from the bearing retainer. The pressure ring reacts against a reaction element disposed on the shaft opposite the bearing retainer to develop an axial thrust load against the bearing.
