  • Patent number: 9938830
Abstract: A controlled collapse stub shaft is provided for allowing controlled axial movement of a mainline shaft which joins a fan or compressor to a turbine of a gas turbine engine. A first end of the stub shaft is adapted to be joined to the mainline shaft. A second end of the stub shaft is adapted to be joined to a part of the engine which is axially stationary relative to the controlled axial movement of the mainline shaft. The stub shaft further has an annular body between the first and second ends. The body contains a plurality of axially-spaced circumferential rows of circumferentially-extending slots, inter-slot ligaments being formed between the slots of each row. Successive rows are offset. In this way, the ligaments of the axially forwardmost and rearwardmost rows excepted, each ligament is sandwiched between a forward slot and a rearward slot of its neighboring rows.

  • Patent number: 9932899
Abstract: When A denotes a required oil lower limit amount for one bearing near an oil supply source, and B and C respectively denote a required oil lower limit amount and a safety surplus oil amount for the other bearing away from the source, an amount of oil equal to A+B+C is supplied from the source and a hole diameter and the number of first oil holes are set such that an amount of oil to be supplied to the one bearing is equal to the amount A. Thus, the oil with the amount A can be securely supplied to the one bearing. Also, oil with the sum of the amounts B and C is supplied to the other bearing so that the oil with the amount B can be securely supplied to the other bearing which tends to receive oil insufficiently because of its remoteness from the source.

  • Patent number: 8602652
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an axially balanced load turbocharger assembly as shown in one form comprises several substantially known components, generally a compressor wheel 22, a turbine wheel 24 and a shaft 26. One form of a housing 28 is also disclosed, which in the specific embodiment disclosed herein comprises several novel components. The apparatus utilizes an oil port in fluid communication with an external oil source, and several oil channels in the housing and in the bearing assembly to direct lubrication oil to all parts which move (rotate) in relation to adjacent components. The apparatus is configured to balance an axially directed load on the shaft so as to minimize damage to the turbocharger, and in particular to the bearing assembly.

Abstract: A hydraulic bushing having at least two chambers and at least one channel connecting the chambers. The bushing is made of a high durometer rubber or other polymer to increase durability. The bushing further includes a center bearing press fit in the center of the annular bushing. The bushing is further press fit into an annular seal operable to seal the fluid within the chambers and channels. The bearing, bushing, and seal assembly is then press fit into a bracket which is subsequently mounted to the vehicle. The center bearing is operable to hold the prop shaft wherein the center bearing is free to rotate within the bushing thereby allowing the prop shaft to rotate.

Abstract: The present invention provides a ball transfer unit, which includes: a main body, a first rotating body, and a plurality of second rotating bodies arranged between the main body and the first rotating body. The main body has an end forming a receiving chamber and thus forming a receiving chamber sidewall. The second rotating bodies are rotatably arranged on the receiving chamber sidewall. The main body forms an air entrance passage in communication with the receiving chamber. The receiving chamber sidewall extends out to form a bearing section corresponding to the air entrance passage. The bearing section has a side surface in which air outlet ports are formed. The ball transfer unit of the present invention prevents powder dusts from falling therein, ensures smooth operation of the ball transfer unit, and extends the lifespan.
