The methods and systems include analyzing a sequence of media frames stored in the memory device and calculating a displacement level of each of the media frames. The displacement level indicates how different each of the media frames is to a previous media frame. The sequence of media frames is divided into a plurality of cuts where each cut ends at a media frame having a substantially high displacement level. Frames to be removed from the sequence of media frames are identified in each cut based upon the frame's displacement level. The identified frames are then removed.

Abstract: Techniques that relate to selecting content for playback are disclosed in various implementations. The techniques may include receiving, at a computing device and from a primary electronic content source, a first input signal for playback by a presentation device. The techniques may also include analyzing information that is indicative of content represented by the first input signal to determine whether the first input signal is intended for playback by the presentation device. The techniques may also include causing the presentation device to play back a second input signal from a backup electronic content source in response to determining that the first input signal is not intended for playback by the presentation device.

Abstract: A DVD navigation system comprises a plurality of navigation modules and a utility. Each navigation module comprises a check function determining data correctness of tables corresponding to the respective navigation modules. Each navigation module generates a read table request. The utility receives the read table request, reads at least one table identified by the read table request from at least one IFO file in a file system, and checks data correctness of the table by using the check function. If the data of the table is incorrect, the utility reads the table from at least one backup file of the IFO file in the file system, and transmits the data to the navigation module for decoding.
