  • Patent number: 9025937
Abstract: According to typical practice of the present invention, temporal identifiers are simultaneously associated with (i) video and (ii) numerical data while these data are contemporaneously collected by, respectively, (i) a video camera filming an event and (ii) a data acquisition system acquiring numerical data from sensor(s) obtaining sensory information relating to the event. Various modes of inventive practice provide for time codes and/or markers as the temporal identifiers. The video and the numerical data are each converted to a digital form that furthers their mutual compatibility, the video to a compressed/encoded video file, the numerical data to an Adobe XMP data file. The compressed/encoded video file and the XMP data file are merged whereby the temporal identifiers are aligned with each other. The merged video file has numerical data embedded therein and is displayable so that the video and the numerical data are synchronized in comportment with actual real-time occurrence.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating custom professional videos are disclosed. The system includes client computing devices, an administrator computing device, and professional editor computing devices, all of which communicate with one or more servers via a network. A server of the one or more servers receives media data including at least one image file, text data, and an audio file from a client computing device via a network. The server creates a video job based on the media data and transmits it to a professional editor computing device. The professional editor uses at least one editing application running on the professional editor computing device to create a video based on the video job. The server transmits the created video to the administrator computing device for review. The server transmits the created video to the client computing device upon approval by the administrator.

Abstract: In a video record/playback apparatus, interrupting a dubbing process that records video data recorded on one recording medium onto another recording medium in a case in which there is a request during the dubbing process to execute a priority process of higher priority than a dubbing process. In addition, at this time, interrupted dubbing information needed to resume the dubbing process is stored. After the dubbing process is interrupted, the user is asked whether or not to resume the dubbing process, and, in a case in which there is an instruction from the user to resume the dubbing process, resuming the dubbing process using the interrupted dubbing information.

Abstract: Systems and accompanying methods are provided for real-time pixel switching in video. A video having first and second portions is provided and is presented to a user, with the first video portion being initially visible to the user and the second video portion not initially visible to the user. During presentation of the video, a user interaction with the first video portion is received, and a selected region of the second video portion is identified based thereon, where the selected region defines a subset of pixels from the second video portion. The selected region is then overlaid on the first video portion, and playback of the second video portion and the first video portion is synchronized.

  • Patent number: 8995822
Abstract: A media content item is evaluated for its “sentiment states.” That is, segments of the content item are determined to be, for example, “happy,” “exciting,” “sad,” “funny,” and the like. A “sentiment map” is created that delimits segments of the content item and contains the sentiment-state keywords associated with the segments. Some maps include an amplitude for each assigned sentiment keyword and a confidence value for the segment delimitation and for each keyword. As an exemplary use of the sentiment map, an advertisement broker matches the sentiments of his advertisement offerings with segments of a content item in order to place appropriate advertisements at times when they would be most favorably received. In another example, a recommender system recommends to a user a content item whose sentiment map compares favorably to that of a content item already enjoyed by the user.

  • Patent number: 8996380
Abstract: Systems and methods of synchronizing media are provided. A client device may be used to capture a sample of a media stream being rendered by a media rendering source. The client device sends the sample to a position identification module to determine a time offset indicating a position in the media stream corresponding to the sampling time of the sample, and optionally a timescale ratio indicating a speed at which the media stream is being rendered by the media rendering source based on a reference speed of the media stream. The client device calculates a real-time offset using a present time, a timestamp of the media sample, the time offset, and optionally the timescale ratio. The client device then renders a second media stream at a position corresponding to the real-time offset to be in synchrony to the media stream being rendered by the media rendering source.

Abstract: A system for annotating frames in a media stream 114 includes a pattern recognition system (PRS) 108 to generate PRS output metadata for a frame; an archive 106 for storing ground truth metadata (GTM); a device to merge the GTM and PRS output metadata and thereby generate proposed annotation data (PAD) 110; and a user interface 109 for use by the human annotator HA 118. The user interface 104 includes an editor 111 and an input device 107 used by the HA 118 to approve GTM for the frame. An optimization system 105 receives the approved GTM and metadata output by the PRS 108, and adjusts input parameters for the PRS to minimize a distance metric corresponding to a difference between the GTM and PRS output metadata.

Abstract: A method for tracking an object in a plurality of frames includes obtaining a contour of an object in a frame. For each remaining frame among the plurality of frames, the following steps are performed. A probability map generator generates a plurality of probability maps containing probability values for one or more pixels for a current frame. A contour is estimated for the current frame based on the plurality of probability maps. User input is obtained for refining the estimated contour. Based on the user input, one or more local regions to be added and/or removed are identified and recorded in a local region list. The local region list is maintained and updated during the tracking process and is used together with the probability map generator.
