The audio and/or video generation apparatus may comprise a recording means which is arranged in operation to record the audio and/or video signals on a recording medium, and the audio and/or video generation apparatus may be arranged to receive meta data associated with the audio and/or video signals generated by a data processor, the recording means being arranged in operation to record the meta data on the recording medium with the audio and/or video signals. The meta data may be user generated, such as text describing the audio/video signals, or may be secondary meta data which is automatically generated by the audio/video apparatus.

Abstract: Archival storage and retrieval of audio/video information is described. Audio and/or video information is digitized, compressed and stored in an intermediate archive format (IAF), which preserves the content at a high-enough quality for subsequent retrieval and conversion into various formats required at the time of use or distribution. A single capture operation is performed with ancillary metadata being added to facilitate subsequent searching, indexing and format conversion. Captured data content is catalogued and indexed at or subsequent to the creation of an IAF file that includes the archived information. The IAF includes a family of audio-video digital encoding formats based on public standards. The encoding format used in any particular application is determined at encoding time from information provided by the archive system user. At encoding, the particular encoding scheme is selected to optimize a tradeoff between storage constraints and end use quality requirements.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved digital recording and presentation of broadcast information is disclosed. Received broadcast data, which may include video, audio, private, or other data, relating to one or more particular content programs, is presented from an input section to a buffer and recorded directly onto a storage device without any intelligent parsing, such as indexing, and without any manipulation by intermediate hardware or software functions. Abstract: A method of receiving media data capable of being transceived via a digital data interface is provided. In the method, media data is received and parsed, and ancillary data for raw data and compression-related information about compressed data for the raw data are extracted from an ancillary data field of the parsed media data. The compressed data is extracted from the parsed media data, and the compressed data is decoded using the compression-related information so as to restore the raw data. The restored raw data is played back using the ancillary data and the compression-related information.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for processing video and audio data received in a decoding system are provided. The method includes the following steps. When a program clock reference (PCR) is unavailable in the system, a system time clock (STC) is recovered by using a presentation time stamp (PTS) of video or audio data, or a linear combination result of the PTS of the video data and the PTS of the audio data. The STC is compared with the PTSs of the currently captured and audio data, and a current data processing mode is determined. A difference between the PTS of the video data and the PTS of the audio data is monitored. An absolute value of the difference is compared with a preset threshold value, and when the absolute value is greater than or equal to the threshold value, an asynchronous play mode is adopted as a system play mode; otherwise, a synchronous play mode is adopted as the system play mode.
Abstract: A distributed database management system provides a central database resident on a server that contains database objects. Objects, e.g., program guide data, to be replicated are gathered together into distribution packages called “slices,” that are transmitted to client devices. A slice is a subset of the central database which is relevant to clients within a specific domain, such as a geographic region, or under the footprint of a satellite transmitter. Abstract: A television video recorder apparatus is provided which is capable of generating a moving picture file reproducible in user's intended video quality and volume on a mobile terminal apparatus. Abstract: The subject matter discloses a method, comprising obtaining a current retention time of storage associated with a digital recorder; obtaining current bitrates of channels used to transmit video captured by edge devices communicating with the digital recorder. The method then determines change in compression rates to be allocated to at least a portion of the channels according to the current retention time and the current bitrates and transmits the change in compression rates to be allocated to the channels to edge devices communicating with the digital recorder. Abstract: In a network video recorder (NVR), a starting location and an end location of video data in a file are set. One frame of video data is recorded in one element of a storage buffer and the element has an index. The NVR further sets a starting location and an end location that coincides with the index of a frame of video data in the storage buffer. If the NVR receives a frame and not enough space of the storage buffer, the NVR adjusts the starting location of the storage buffer by one element, and adjusts the starting location of the file to the starting location of the frame in the storage buffer. If enough space is and the frame is the Intra-frame, the NVR adjusts the end location of the file by one frame, and adjusts the end location of the storage buffer by one element.
Abstract: An image capturing apparatus which is connectable to and able to communicate with an external control apparatus, comprises an image capturing unit configured to capture an object image and generates image data; a recording unit configured to divide image data generated by the image capturing unit into a plurality of files and records the files; and a notifying unit configured to notify the external control apparatus of individual files divided into the plurality of files and recorded as information of a single file.
Abstract: A method for storing a video summary for a digital video sequence captured with a digital video capture device, comprising: capturing a digital video sequence with the digital video capture device, wherein the digital video sequence includes a plurality of video frames; storing the digital video sequence in a processor-accessible memory; identifying one or more key video snippets, each key video snippet corresponding to a set of video frames from the stored digital video sequence; assembling the key video snippets to form a video summary; and storing the video summary in a processor-accessible memory by storing metadata associated with the stored digital video sequence, wherein the metadata provides an indication of the video frames corresponding to the video summary.
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a video display apparatus including, a monitoring module, LAN-connected to a command supplier, configured to monitor a start state of a power unit which is and turned on when receiving a start command, and a controller, LAN-connected to a command supplier, configured to detect that the start command is transmitted to a power unit which and turned on when receiving the start command, and configured to supply a start signal to the power unit via a bidirectional interface when the power unit does not start after a predetermined time elapses.
