Abstract: A method for processing an audio/video bit-stream includes the steps of receiving an input bit-stream, detecting whether the input bit-stream has a startcode emulation prevention pattern, and removing the startcode emulation prevention pattern from the input bit-stream to generate an output bit-stream and setting a flag signal as a first designated flag value when the startcode emulation prevention pattern is detected. The method further includes the step of detecting whether the input bit-stream includes a startcode, and directly outputting the input bit-stream and setting the flag signal as a second designated flag value when the startcode is detected.

  • Patent number: 8457476
Abstract: A multimedia signal processing system utilizes an easily manipulated, low-cost storage and display system that allows the user to view a television program and instantly review previous scenes within the program. The invention also allows the user to store selected programs while simultaneously watching or reviewing another. A versatile system architecture enables providing the invention in multiple configurations, each adapted to receive input signals from a different source. At the highest level, the system includes an input section and an output section. Across all configurations, the output section remains substantially the same, while the input section varies according to the signal type and the source. Thus, several configurations are provided, each one requiring only minor system board modifications. The system architecture thus simplifies the design and manufacturing challenge presented by producing units to serve different markets, such as digital satellite, digital cable and analog cable.

  • Patent number: 8442388
Abstract: An aspect of the present invention provides a device for use with a stream of video content and a video display. The device includes a receiver, a circular buffer, an output portion, a controller and a second buffer. The receiver receives the stream of video content. The circular buffer stores up to a predetermined first length of the stream of video content as buffered video content. The output portion outputs a first video signal, based on the buffered video content, to the video display. The controller controls the output portion to output the first video signal as one of the buffered video content playing in real time, a paused portion of the buffered video content, and a previously played portion of the buffered video content. The second buffer stores a portion of the buffered video content as stored video content. The output portion outputs a second video signal, based on the stored video content, to the video display.
