Video Processing For Reproducing (e.g., Decoding, Etc.) Patents (Class 386/353)
  • Patent number: 8090237
Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording medium containing moving picture data and additional information thereof and to reproducing method and apparatus of the recording medium. The present recording medium has script files including additional information about moving picture data, e.g., scene descriptive text and introduction of characters, etc. In addition, information linking each script file with a section of moving picture data to be presented with contents of the script file is included in a link data file or is contained in a filename of the script file. In reproduction of the recording medium, a script file linked with presently reproduced moving picture data section is determined and searched for based on the link data file or every filename of the script files, and contents of the found script file are presented together with the presently reproduced moving picture data. Furthermore, previously presented additional information is removed depending on data or filename of the found script file.

Abstract: A multi-format digital video production system enables a user to process an input video program to produce an output version of the program in a final format which may have a different frame rate, pixel dimensions, or both. An internal production format of 24 fps is preferably chosen to provide the greatest compatibility with existing and planned formats associated with HDTV standard 4:3 or widescreen 16:9 high-definition television, and film. Images are re-sized horizontally and vertically by pixel interpolation, thereby producing larger or smaller image dimensions so as to fill the particular needs of individual applications. Frame rates are adapted by inter-frame interpolation or by traditional schemes, including “3:2 pull-down” for 24-to-30 fps conversions. Abstract: Video player circuitry used with encoded source video and a display. Decoder circuitry receives encoded source video and decodes the encoded source video to produce a sequence of full frames of video data. Pre-processing circuitry, pursuant to sub-frame information, generates a plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data from the sequence of full frames of video data, a first sequence of the plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data having a different center point within the sequence of full frames of video data than that of a second sequence of the plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data. Post-processing circuitry, pursuant to supplemental information, modifies the plurality of sequences of sub-frames of video data to produce an output. Interface circuitry that delivers the output for subsequent presentation on the display.

Abstract: Film grain is simulated in an output image using pre-established blocks of film grain from a pool of pre-established blocks. Successive film grain blocks are selected by matching the average intensity of a block from the pool to the average intensity of a successive one of a set of M×N pixels in an incoming image. Once all of the successive pixel blocks from the image are matched to selected film grain blocks, the selected film grain blocks are “mosaiced”, that is composited into a larger image mapped to the incoming image.

Abstract: An information presenting apparatus, based on display status on a screen, estimates text blocks that a user is likely to classify as poor-legibility blocks and is likely to wish to be read aloud. A simple device that allows selecting from the text blocks is provided. A poor-legibility-block extractor divides text to be displayed on the screen into blocks corresponding to individual text blocks, classifies blocks including characters of sizes less than or equal to a predetermined size as poor-legibility blocks, and assigns block numbers to the poor-legibility blocks. A document display unit displays areas of the respective poor-legibility blocks as distinguished from other areas, with block numbers assigned to the respective poor-legibility blocks. When the user presses a numeric key corresponding to a block number, text in the corresponding block is read aloud.

Abstract: A video processing apparatus acquires audio-visual environment information that indicates an audio-visual environment of a viewer that views video. The audio-visual environment information includes information of a display size of the video that is being viewed, information of brightness around a display apparatus that displays the video, and information of a distance between the viewer and the display apparatus. The video processing apparatus corrects, depending on information indicated by the audio-visual environment information, a basic reduction amount to reduce a quantity of motion of the video that is being played back, and processes the video with use of a corrected reduction amount. In the case where the display size is large, in the case where it is dark around, or in the case where the distance from the viewer to the display apparatus is short, the reduction amount to reduce a motion is set to be large.
