  • Patent number: 11979586
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods, apparatuses, and non-transitory computer-readable storage mediums for video encoding/decoding. An apparatus includes processing circuitry that partitions a current picture into a plurality of sub-pictures. Each of the plurality of sub-pictures corresponds to a different region of the current picture. The processing circuitry encodes each of the plurality of sub-pictures based on one or more layers associated with the respective one of the plurality of sub-pictures. The plurality of sub-pictures includes (i) a first sub-picture that is associated with a first number of layers, and (ii) a second sub-picture that is associated with a second number of layers that is different from the first number of layers.

  • Patent number: 11638062
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for processing media content, such as samples of sparse media content whose sample durations can be unknown at the time of decoding the samples, include obtaining, at a current time instance, a current fragment comprising at least a current time component. From the current time component, a modified duration is obtained for at least one media sample, the modified duration indicating a time duration by which a presentation of a previous media sample of a previous fragment is to be extended or reduced in relation to the current time instance. The at least one media sample is presented for a time duration based on the modified duration.

  • Patent number: 11546399
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention discloses a network system capable of transmitting and processing audio video (“A/V”) data with enhanced quality of service (“QoS”). The network system includes a transmitter, a transmission channel, an adjustable decoder buffer, and a decoder. The transmitter contains an encoder able to encode A/V data in accordance with encoding bit rate recommendation from SQoS and packets loss notifications. The transmission channel, in one example, transmits A/V data from the transmitter or the receiver. The adjustable decoder buffer, in one aspect, is able to change its storage capacity or buffering size in response to the adaptive latency estimate. Upon fetching at least a portion of the A/V data from the adjustable decoder buffer, SQoS updates the adaptive latency estimate based on the quality of the decoded A/V data.

  • Patent number: 11412104
Abstract: A proximity detection device detects the proximity of an object using a light emitting element and a light receiving element that receives reflected light of irradiation light from the light emitting element reflected by the object. A mirror is provided near the light emitting element to reflect part of the irradiation light emitted from the light emitting element toward an area at which the irradiation light from the light emitting element does not sufficiently arrive, and a mirror is provided near the light receiving element to enable reception of the reflected light from the light emitting element in a wide range.

  • Patent number: 8582959
Abstract: A storage medium which stores catalog information and a catalog information recording and/or playback apparatus and method therefor. Using the method, catalog information including a still picture and additional information together with audio data are recorded on a storage medium such as a digital versatile disk (DVD), which is an optical record storage medium, and the catalog information is played back during playback of the audio data, to thereby provide various information on the audio data. Also, the apparatus includes a buffer memory for catalog playback which maintains a predetermined standard and compatibility, and is capable of real-time reading during playback of the audio data, and automatically plays back the catalog content, corresponding to the playback state of the audio data, when there is no additional selection of a user.

  • Patent number: 8515239
Abstract: There is described a method and device for encoding a vibro-kinetic signal (e.g., motion codes) directly onto a video player media (e.g., a DVD player) and for streaming the vibro-kinetic signal to a dedicated motion decoder in synchrony to the audio and video, while the movie support media (e.g., a DVD, a computer file, streaming data from a network) is being played. According to an embodiment, the multi-channel vibro-kinetic signal is encoded within one of the audio channels transported by the HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) link. Two methods are proposed to perform the encoding: Direct LSB (Least Significant Bit) Injection; and Perceptually Modulated Injection. There are also described corresponding decoding methods and motion decoders.

  • Patent number: 8488940
Abstract: The amount of data stored in a video buffer (3) that temporarily stores multi-angle streams (A, B) is controlled from information giving the distance between the angle blocks (A—1, B—1, A—2, B—2, . . . ) of the multi-angle streams and an audio stream (C) on a recording medium (10). In multi-angle playback, in which multiple files are read simultaneously, this can shorten the time from when the user switches the angle until the image reproduced by a video display apparatus changes to the intended angle.

  • Patent number: 8107796
Abstract: Video data and output data that need to be output in synchronization therewith are synchronized. When an output of video data is later than an output of output data synchronized with the video data, at step S273, a process for one access unit is caused to be skipped. At step S275, it is determined whether the video data are referenced when other video data are decoded according to au_ref_flag of video data of the access unit whose process has been caused to be skipped. When the video data of the access unit whose process has been caused to be skipped are not referenced when the other video data are decoded, at step S277, the access unit whose process has been caused to be skipped is skipped. The present invention can be applied to for example a game device that uses a DVD.
