Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a heater, a fixing device, and a controller. The heater includes a heat generator that generates heat when the heater is turned on. The fixing device may fix a developer image on a surface of an image forming medium using the heat from the heat generator. The controller detects a voltage of a power supply for supplying electric power to the heater, and determines an occurrence of an abnormality in the heater if a voltage drop amount at the time the heater is turned on as compared to a case in which the heater is turned off is smaller than a first threshold value.
Abstract: A sheet reader reads the entire sheet which is transported. Based on the reading, a controller generates region classification image data for distinguishing between a region of the sheet and a region other than the sheet. The controller performs comparison processing in which reference image data that is the region classification image data of a first sheet in a print job and comparison target image data that is the region classification image data for another sheet are compared. The controller determines whether or not a sheet corresponding to the comparison target image data is abnormal.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus that is capable of using a residual sheet effectively even in a double-sided printing mode. A control unit controls to perform a double-sided image formation process to recording sheets. A detection unit detects a jam of the recording sheet. A determination unit determines whether residual sheets, which are recording sheets on the conveyance path other than a jamming sheet that generates a jam, are available in the image forming process resumed after the jam is removed based on the number of copies of sheets on which the same image is formed, the recording sheets on which images have been formed on one sides, and the latest recording sheet that was normally ejected. The control unit stops the process and ejects the residual sheets that are determined unavailable from the conveyance path when a jam is detected during the process.
Abstract: A method for performing color-to-color correction while printing multiple copies of a print job having one or more documents includes printing one or more copies of the print job and determining at least one color registration error for at least one type of color registration error produced during the printing of the one or more copies of the print job. A color plane correction value is then determined for each document in the print job and for each color plane error produced during the printing of the one or more copies of the print job. One or more subsequent copies of the print job is printed using the color plane correction values, where the color plane correction values used for each document are the correction values determined for that document. The color plane correction values can be updated periodically, at select times, or after each copy is printed.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of properly reducing recovery printing time, while reducing abrasion and deterioration of image bearing members. As an image formation mode determining method, a first method is selected before a print job is interrupted e.g. a jam, whereas for recovery printing, one of the first method and a second method is selected. In the first method, if an image to be formed is a color image, an image formation mode is set to an all-contact mode having an intermediate transfer belt brought into contact with all of photosensitive members, and if the image is a monochrome image, the mode is set to a partial-contact mode having the belt brought into contact only with a photosensitive member for black toner. Abstract: A multi-function printer main body has a copy function. A remote terminal conducts various kinds of copy settings or instructions to start copy. An execution button is provided in the multi-function printer main body. When the execution button is operated in normal time, copy is executed with the default settings. When copy is executed by inputting copy settings on the remote terminal side, copy can be executed again with the copy settings used for the last time by operating the execution button until a predetermined period of time passes. By the re-feeding, in a case that the sheet has been detected in the predetermined position, formation of an image to be transferred onto the sheet is started, then the timing of start of the feeding of the sheet is delayed from the timing of start of the feeding in normal times.
