  • Patent number: 11073776
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a heater, a fixing device, and a controller. The heater includes a heat generator that generates heat when the heater is turned on. The fixing device may fix a developer image on a surface of an image forming medium using the heat from the heat generator. The controller detects a voltage of a power supply for supplying electric power to the heater, and determines an occurrence of an abnormality in the heater if a voltage drop amount at the time the heater is turned on as compared to a case in which the heater is turned off is smaller than a first threshold value.

Abstract: A sheet reader reads the entire sheet which is transported. Based on the reading, a controller generates region classification image data for distinguishing between a region of the sheet and a region other than the sheet. The controller performs comparison processing in which reference image data that is the region classification image data of a first sheet in a print job and comparison target image data that is the region classification image data for another sheet are compared. The controller determines whether or not a sheet corresponding to the comparison target image data is abnormal.

Abstract: An apparatus for performing data processing for a print job, includes a controller to control data processing in accordance with a number-of-copies setting of a print job. The data processing includes first data processing in which predetermined image processing is performed on first image data included in the print job to generate second image data, and the generated second image data is printed without spooling; and second data processing in which predetermined image processing is performed on first image data included in the print job to generate second image data, the generated second image data is spooled, and the spooled second image data is repeatedly used for printing. When a change of the number-of-copies setting is accepted during job execution by the first data processing, the controller switches from the first data processing to the second data processing in response to the remaining number of copies.

Abstract: A control device includes an AC-DC converter that converts power supplied from a commercial power source into DC, a DC-DC converter that supplies the DC to a fixing heater, an calculator that calculates a target DC voltage of the DC to be supplied to the fixing heater, based on detected temperature of the fixing heater, an overcurrent detection unit that outputs an interruption signal when an overcurrent detection value is detected in a circuit including a switching element, and a controller that calculates switching time for switching the switching element so that an output of the DC-DC converter reaches the target DC voltage. When the interruption signal is output causing stopping of the switching of the switching element, the controller causes the calculator not to calculate the switching time to continuously use the previously calculated switching time after resuming switching of the switching element at a next switching cycle.

  • Patent number: 8520249
Abstract: A procedure through which a device is started up when power is introduced is fixed. Consequently, if there is a job that has been suspended owing to cut-off of power the length of time from re-introduction of power to resumption of the suspended job is too long. In order to solve this problem, an image processing apparatus, which enables execution of a plurality of jobs by starting up a plurality of software modules, is so adapted that in a case where a job being executed is suspended, execution information indicating status of execution of the job at the time of suspension is stored. The suspended job is resumed based on the execution information. Specifically, in resuming the suspended job, a group of software modules relating to the suspended job is started up before other software modules.

Abstract: An image-forming apparatus includes an image formation section, a placement unit, a paper feed rotating body, a detecting body, a storage unit, and a determination unit. The detecting body detects the arrival of the paper having been supplied by the paper feed rotating body. The storage unit stores measurement data that is based on a measurement time from the start of paper feeding until when the detecting body detects the arrival. The determination unit finds the average time of the measurement times and, when the average time is longer than a predetermined theoretical time, establishes as the paper-non-feed jam detection time a time obtained by adding the absolute value of the time difference between the theoretical time and the average time to a detection reference time. The determination unit determines whether or not a paper-non-feed jam has occurred with the paper-non-feed jam detection time.

Abstract: A control apparatus which makes it possible to realize a configuration for processing a plurality of print jobs efficiently without waste while meeting needs for performing a glossing process on prints. When a sheet printed in a first process is fed from a sheet feeder, the printing apparatus executes a second printing process for processing the fed sheet. When an interrupting factor occurs during execution of the second printing process to cause interruption of the processing, the interrupted processing is resumed on condition that the interrupting factor is removed. A resuming method of resuming the processing is determined based on contents of the processing in the second process.

  • Patent number: 8306441
Abstract: A recording medium is moved to a transfer printing station and print images are transfer-printed. The recording medium is transported to a fixing station. A print stop is initiated whereby the recording medium is halted, a further transfer printing is prevented, and a fixing is deactivated. It is checked whether a transfer-printed but unfixed page is still located in the printing apparatus. If so, a warning notification is automatically generated. A query is made as to whether an operating command has been input. If so, it is checked whether the unfixed page would also be output unfixed. If no, the operating command is executed. If yes, the print stop is automatically maintained. It is also inspected as to whether the unfixed page would be output upon execution of an additional operating command. If no, the additional operating command is executed. If yes, an error message is automatically generated.
