Job Recovery Patents (Class 399/19)
  • Patent number: 5970274
Abstract: An apparatus for predicting a location of a sheet being transported along a path of movement after the occurrence of a sheet jam. A sheet jam detecting device is disposed along the path of movement of the sheet. The sheet jam detecting device detects the sheet jam along the path of movement and generates a sheet jam signal. A sensor is operatively associated with the transport to detect the continued movement of the transport after the jam detecting device detects the sheet jam. The sensor generates a transport signal. A processor is in communication with the jam detecting device and the sensor for receiving the sheet jam signal and the transport signal. The detector predicts the location of the sheet as a function of these signals. An apparatus of this type may be used in a printing machine for detecting the location of sheets after the occurrence of a sheet jam.

  • Patent number: 5933677
Abstract: A method for processing a paper jam error in an image forming apparatus for performing successive image forming operations on successive sheets of paper using an electrophotographic developing process. The method includes determining when a paper jam occurs due to a paper feed failure of a current sheet of paper while the image forming apparatus performs successive image forming operations on successive sheets of paper; and when the paper jam occurs due to the paper feed failure of the current sheet of paper, completing an image forming operation of an immediately preceding sheet of paper, and then processing the paper jam which occurs due to the paper feed failure of the current sheet of paper.

  • Patent number: 5920744
Abstract: An apparatus for forming images on at least one surface of a sheet includes a reader for reading image information on documents, a memory for storing image signals output by the reader, and an image forming unit for selectively forming one of: (i) two page toner images corresponding to the image signals of two pages of the documents separately on two image carrying members, and (ii) a single toner image on one of the two image carrying members. A jam detector detects a jammed sheet, and a delivery detector detects delivery of a copied sheet to outside the apparatus. Image signals are eliminated from memory in accordance with a progression of image formation.

  • Patent number: 5812901
Abstract: In an interruption process, it is determined whether the sheet feed outlet in the set mode is the same as that in the normal print out operation. If it is determined that the sheet feed outlet is different, a stop request is set to inhibit sheet feeding of the normal job immediately. If it is determined that the sheet feed outlet is the same, a process of transition to interruptive print out is effected while continuing sheet feeding of the normal job. When the print data is determined, the printing for an interruption process is effected.

  • Patent number: 5745661
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a unit for inputting image information from an external apparatus, a unit for forming an image on a recording medium, a unit for reading an original, a unit for detecting a jam of the recording medium, a unit for being manually operated by an operator, and a unit for controlling a recovery operation from a jammed state. The apparatus includes a first mode for forming an image corresponding to the input image information, and a second mode for forming a composite image by synthesizing the image corresponding to the input image information with an image of the original read by the reading unit. The control unit starts the recovery operation from the jammed state in response to release of the jam in the first mode, and starts the recovery operation from the jammed state in response to a manual operation of the operation unit by the operator after release of the jam in the second mode.

  • Patent number: 5740496
Abstract: A multijob image forming apparatus performing the following operation, which allows operation similar to single job operation without increasing number of keys on an operation panel, is provided. When two jobs, that is, reading and printing are stopped by one stop key and a clear key is pressed, the display is switched to a data clear display, when document is being read and printing is in progress. By using the data clear display, data corresponding to the reading operation or the data corresponding to the printing operation, which is to be discarded, is selected.
