Patent number: 9392137Abstract: An image reading device includes a reading unit, a drive section, an operation control section, an acquiring section, and a casing. The drive section moves the reading unit. The operation control section controls a drive operation by the drive section and a light emitting operation by a light emitting section. The acquiring section acquires status information indicating a state of the device. The casing constitutes an outer contour of the device. The casing has a symbol inscribed on a predetermined portion therein. The symbol corresponds to the status information item. When the acquiring section acquires the status information item, the operation control section controls the drive section to move the reading unit to a position corresponding to the portion on which the symbol corresponding to the status information item is inscribed and controls the light emitting section to emit light while the reading unit is located at the position.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2015Date of Patent: July 12, 2016Assignee: KYOCERA Document Solutions Inc.Inventor: Makoto Okado

Publication number: 20020039222Abstract: An optical scanning device which divides an area to be scanned on a surface to be scanned into n (wherein n≧2) partial scanning portions in a longitudinal direction thereof. The scanning device includes n light sources respectively corresponding to the n partial scanning portions and configured to optically scan the n partial scanning portions with respective light fluxes from the n light sources thereby to scan the areas. The optical scanning device includes a deflecting device configured to deflect the light fluxes from the n light sources, and a scan imaging optical device configured to converge the light fluxes deflected by the deflecting device toward the surface to be scanned, so that each of the respective light fluxes forms an optical spot on a corresponding partial scanning portion of the n partial scanning portions.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2001Publication date: April 4, 2002Applicant: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Yoshinori Hayashi

Patent number: 5926330Abstract: An optical variable power module has a movable lens unit slidably mounted on a chassis, such that the lens unit is moved along an optical axis defined thereby, and a movable mirror unit slidably mounted on the chassis, such that the mirror unit is moved along the optical axis of the lens unit. The movable mirror unit has a frame, a pair of supporting plates shiftably attached to the frame, and at least one mirror supported by the supporting plates. The chassis has a pair of abutment faces formed thereon such that the supporting plates can be abutted against the abutment faces. The abutment faces define a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens unit, whereby the supporting plates are shifted with respect to the frame such that the longitudinal axis of the mirror supported by the supporting plates is perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens unit.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1997Date of Patent: July 20, 1999Assignee: Asahi Kogaku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Kazuhiro Ichinokawa

Patent number: 5847846Abstract: A color scanner with a wedge shaped platen sequentially records opposing pages of a bound document positioned thereon using a single imaging station. The scanner includes a partially reflective mirror positioned between the wedge shaped platen. The two sides of the wedge shaped platen are illuminated with polarized light having angles orthogonal to each other. Polarized illuminators operate in combination with polarization analyzers positioned under the wedge shaped platen to sequentially image the opposing pages of the bound document. A controller insures that polarized light sources consisting of the three primary colors red, green, and blue, sequentially expose each opposing page of the bound document. The opposing pages of the bound document are focused through optics onto the single imaging station. In another embodiment, light polarized by analyzers positioned under the wedge shaped platen is filtered by a polarizer positioned in front of the focal optics before reaching the single imaging station.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1996Date of Patent: December 8, 1998Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Xiaodong Wu, David A.
