Patent number: 11832771Abstract: A self-mechanical-cleaning toilet system with water-splash cleaning options provides a more sanitary and comfortable bathroom experience with minimum water usage. The system includes a receiving trough, a removal scraper, a guide bar, a back door, a first translation mechanism, a second translation mechanism, and a controller. The receiving trough collects the excrement, while the removal scraper moves the excrement out. The guide bar controls the movement of the removal scraper along the receiving trough. The back door separates the receiving trough from an excrement storage compartment/sewer system. The first translation mechanism moves the removal scraper, while the second translation mechanism moves the back door as necessary. The controller monitors and controls the cycles of the operation of the first translation mechanism and the second translation mechanism. The water-splash cleaning options dispense specified amounts of fluids for cleaning and sanitation purposes.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2022Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Inventors: Baozhong Li, Xiao Li

Patent number: 10023504Abstract: This disclosure provides a composting system and method. The system comprises: (a) a container configured to contain a composition and comprising (i) insulated walls, (ii) an air intake and (iii) a vent; and (b) a composition contained in the container. The composition comprises aerobic microorganisms, a carbon source and a nutrient source sufficient to support growth of the aerobic microorganisms. The container is sufficiently insulated so that heat generated by aerobic respiration is sufficiently retained in the container to maintain a heat gradient in the container. The container is dimensioned to generate a stack effect that moves air into the air intake, through the composition and out the vent. The moving air provides oxygen to support growth of aerobic microorganisms, making the stack effect self-sustaining as long as a carbon source and nutrients last. The insulation can maintain temperatures in the composting cell sufficient to kill pathogenic microorganisms.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2014Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Inventor: John Hulls

Patent number: 9867511Abstract: An appliance that dries and sanitizes solids, evaporates liquids, using air flow and short bursts of heat developed by an induction heating unit that relies on eddy currents of a ferromagnetic collection pan to dry the solids and evaporate the liquids. The pan is removed and the treated matter is disposed of. The unit is lightweight, needs only to be vented, plugged in and is ready to use. It is mobile, works off of conventional power mains, generators and/or solar. No special type of toilet paper is involved, there is no composting, no fire, and there are no chemicals.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2016Date of Patent: January 16, 2018Inventors: Jerry Duane Wilburg, Lawrence James Losoncy, Ted Knight

Patent number: 9113755Abstract: A method for treatment of human excrement comprises the following steps: (1) providing a chamber (5) having a top opening through which excrement enters the chamber (5); (2) allowing solid excrement to form a layer on a porous plate (6) inside the chamber (5) by gravity wherein excrement is stored firstly at front storing region (13) and secondly at rear storing region (14), and allowing urine to fall down into the urine storing region (15) through perforations in the porous plate (6); (3) ventilating the interior of chamber (5) by a ventilation system, and providing an indirect heat source (7) inside the chamber (5). A device for treatment of human excrement comprises the chamber (5), the porous plate (6) with the front storing region (13) and the rear storing region (14), the urine storing region (15), the ventilation system and the indirect heat source (7).Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2010Date of Patent: August 25, 2015Inventors: Derek Lam, Lai Yan Chan

Publication number: 20140165273Abstract: A portable, self-contained toilet is provided that does not require water, and produces its own energy without the need for an external source of power. The toilet includes and external housing for providing protection from environmental elements to components of the toilet and to human users of the toilet. A toilet bowl directs liquid and solid waste into a collection hopper. Once the hopper is full, a turntable or other rotary device is indexed to advance the waste filled hopper to an intermediary position. From there, the hopper is moved onto a burner, where the collected human waste is separated into liquid and solid waste. As a result of heating, the liquid waste turns to steam and is removed from the hopper, collected, filtered and the resulting distilled water stored. The remaining solid bio-fuel may be removed and disposed of or used as needed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2013Publication date: June 19, 2014Applicant: Santec LLCInventor: Jeremiah Deal
