Abstract: A funnel device to assist individuals, especially males, with the standing use of toilet facilities. The funnel is used to contain any urine overspray from an individual standing in front of a toilet. The device may be easily placed and positioned on, or removed from, the toilet. The device is a truncated cone of flexible plastic material, with a large V-shaped space formed in one side. The narrow end of the cone is inserted into the toilet and is sized to extend into the toilet basin. The device is preferably constructed from a sheet of heavy flexible plastic, attached back onto itself at a point near the narrow end of the cone. Holes near the base may be incorporated to allow water to flow into the cone from the toilet bowl. Handle cutouts may be positioned near the upper perimeter of the cone to facilitate placement of the device.

  • Patent number: 8156577
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel feature of a toilet for reducing the density of the fluid in the bottom portion of a bathroom fixture to eliminate spray when desired. When not desired, for example, when a user is seated upon the bathroom fixture, this feature may be deactivated. In one form, when the anti-spray feature is turned off, the bubbles will have substantially disappeared in less than a few seconds. The bathroom fixture (toilet) is provided with an air source, such as an air pump, compressed air cylinder, or compressor, coupled by way of an air line or hose to an air diffuser chamber. When the air source is activated, a substantial portion of the water in the air diffuser chamber will be displaced by the air provided by the air source. The vertical region of bubbles within the standing water reduces the density of the water in that region, such that splash is virtually eliminated.

Abstract: A splash guard includes a shield that helps deflect and drain misdirected urine into a toilet bowl. When not needed, the shield can pivot 180 degrees from an operative, raised position down to tuck underneath the front end of the toilet bowl at a stored, lowered position. In the lowered position, the shield is generally inverted. To prevent residual urine on the inverted shield from dripping onto the floor, the shield includes a drip lip that temporarily collects the residual urine. When returned to the upright, raised position, urine in the drip lip is free to drain back into the toilet. The shield is pivotally connected to the toilet bowl at a point below the upper rim of the bowl so that when the shield pivots to the lowered position, the shield is completely out of the way.

Abstract: The splash prevention urinal apparatus is designed whereby urine impacts the contact wall at a 60 degree angle, thereby directing flow and any potential splash to the stop wall, the rounded corner, and the splash wall. The angle prevents urine splash back toward the front of the apparatus. By negating urine splash, the apparatus encourages a user to stand closely and thereby prevents urine spill on the floor of a facility. • Patent number: 7398565
Abstract: A self-cleaning urinal anti-splash device having a series of angled deflectors which send the urine stream ever deeper into a series of channels leading down toward the urinal drain. The angled deflectors not only send the urine stream ever deeper into the channels, but they simultaneously prevent the urine from exiting the channels in any direction other than downward toward the drain. This is accomplished by virtue of the fact that inner faces of the deflectors are adapted to deflect the urine back toward the urinal wall. No plane perpendicular to the direction of the initial urine stream is presented to the user. Gravity then causes it to flow to the drain. The device is also self cleaning because there is nothing to prevent the water of a flush cycle from passing through the vertical channels by gravity feed, thereby removing all the urine on the deflector surfaces. The device can be made of metal, plastic, rubber, or other inexpensive easily moldable substance.

Abstract: A removable urinal splash shield device that is a urinal shield is disclosed. The urinal shield comprises a vertical curved member connected to a horizontal curved member. The vertical curved member is substantially perpendicular to the horizontal curved member. The horizontal curved member is connected to a convex outer surface of the vertical curved member and contacts an upper surface of a rim of a toilet bowl when the urinal shield is used. A portion of the vertical curved member projects into an inner portion of the toilet bowl adjacent to the rim of the toilet bowl to provide further stability of the urinal shield when the urinal shield is used. The urinal shield contacts the upper surface of the rim of the toilet bowl so that a concave inner surface of the vertical curved member faces in the direction from which a urine stream is directed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the containment of fluids that flow from a bowl of a commode installed in an aircraft lavatory through a space between a rim of the bowl and a shroud positioned above the rim. The method includes securing a central portion of an apron against an exterior perimeter of the bowl and fastening a plurality of fastening points formed in an outer peripheral portion of the apron to fixed anchors to thereby extend and retain the outer peripheral portion of the apron away from the exterior perimeter of the bowl. Once installed, the apron is able to contain at least a portion of fluids that flow from the bowl through the space. The present invention also provides a method of servicing an aircraft lavatory between flights and a kit for use in servicing an aircraft lavatory.

Abstract: A protective screen which fits over the opening of a urinal to prevent splashback that commonly occurs when a stream of urine contacts the inside wall of the urinal. The screen functions to allow a stream of urine to pass therethrough but prevents the occurrence of splashback when the urine stream contacts the walls of the urinal or the water at the bottom of the urinal. The screen also provides a filter to prevent foreign articles (paper, gum, cigarette butts, etc.) from being flushed down the urinal. The screen is positioned in the urinal such that flush water flows over the entire surface of the screen thereby cleansing the surface and enhancing sanitary conditions.
