Latched Actuator Patents (Class 4/384)
  • Patent number: 8185976
Abstract: A flush valve is provided for flushing a toilet bowl. The flush valve includes a center tube having a lug, a flush activation device configured to initially raise the center tube, at least one latching mechanism configured to control movement of the center tube, and at least one rack configured to have movement controlled by the at least one latching mechanism. The at least one latching mechanism controls volume of fluid used during a flush.

  • Patent number: 5918324
Abstract: A two-stage toilet is composed of a handle switching device, a locating and fastening device, a water adjusting device, and a water stopping valve device. The handle switching device consists of a camshaft on which the locating and fastening device and the water adjusting device are mounted. The water adjusting device comprises a cord pulling rod for actuating a transmission cord of the water stopping valve device. The water adjusting device is composed of a retaining slot and a retaining block which is retained in the retaining slot at the time when the flush handle of the toilet is pressed to cause the water stopping valve of the water stopping valve device to remain open to permit the flushing until such time when the water adjusting block of the water adjusting device is so actuated by a float ball as to bring about the disengagement of the retaining block with the retaining slot, thereby resulting in an interruption of the flushing.

  • Patent number: 5206960
Abstract: A dual flush toilet control mechanism includes an operating handle and attached actuating cam, a control arm and a control float arm. When the handle is turned in a first direction, the actuating cam moves the control arm to open fully a conventional toilet tank main valve to its buoyant position. When turned the handle is turned in a second direction, the actuating cam moves the control arm to open partially the main valve to a position wherein it is subject to the suction developed by the water exiting the toilet tank. A control cam on the control float arm maintains the control arm in position to maintain the main valve open against the suction until the water level in the tank drops below a predetermined level. When the float on the control float arm reaches the predetermined water level, the attached control cam allows the control arm to drop and the main valve to close.

  • Patent number: 4811432
Abstract: A flush tank water saver has an elongated semi-circular base fitting around and clamped to the overflow pipe. This base carries an operating lever on pivots close to the flapper valve pivots. One part of this lever engages the flapper valve at its center and pushes it closed. The force causing closure is provided by another part of the lever which extends beneath and generally parallel with a float lever, the two levers being connected by an adjustable chain. The second part of the operating lever is subtantially longer than the flapper valve engaging part giving a mechanical advantage to the float and causing gravity to close the valve. A positive cut off point is provided by a latch holding the operator in open position, this latch being released by the float lever.A second embodiment utilizes a spring for pushing the valve operator. Movement of the flush lever to flush latches the valve operator open. The latch is released by the float lever.

  • Patent number: 4351071
Abstract: A water-saving device for use in the tank of a flush toilet has a movable latch member for supporting the inlet valve float in an elevated position upon initiation of a flush cycle. A secondary float within the tank controls the latch member and releases the main float to allow opening of the inlet valve only after the tank water level has dropped by a predetermined amount. The delay in opening the inlet valve reduces the amount of water used in the flush cycle.

  • Patent number: 4232408
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a two variable flush gate for a flush toilet. It is a structure that, by means of adding and altering parts of elements in a traditional flush gate, can select a discharge quantity with simple operation of the discharge lever as needed so that unnecessary water consumption can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 4171547
Abstract: A device for converting a single volume cistern into a cistern allowing both low-volume and high-volume flushes. The device includes a hollow vessel inserted in the cistern and at least partially surrounding the flushing mechanism and water outlet. An opening at the upper end of the vessel for the entry of water and at least one selectively openable port comprising a hinged door having a retaining lever arm attached at one of its ends to the door are provided. The arm and door are movable between a first closed position to a second displaced open position. The vessel forms an open ended water column extending above and around the water outlet to exclude a portion of the water in the cistern from passing through the outlet while the door is in the first position for low volume flushes. The door and the lever arm move to the second displaced open position with the lever held and restrained by interaction with a standard water-level responsive part.
