Publication number: 20140059756Abstract: An improved flapper valve has an elastomeric surrounding flapper valve top. A separate inverted dome-like structure, or cone, which is the ballast, is included for insertion into the flapper valve top. The improved flapper valve further includes a ring-like upper structure and a cap-like bottom structure. The ring-like upper “vent band” structure rotates about the cone relative to an air outlet aperture defined in the cone to control air flow from the cone. Patent number: 7891028Abstract: An improved water-saving toilet flapper valve (20) that calls for an end to automatic toilet flushing; instead it is operated manually. By manually depressing the toilet flush handle (72) for a desired amount of time, the user regulates the amount of water flushed down the toilet in a single session, thus saving water. A short flush interval or full flush interval can be achieved. This is accomplished by designing the flange body (50) of the toilet flapper valve to house a solid inner core (54) containing a weighted mass (56). This allows the toilet flapper valve to become non-buoyant when submerged underwater in a toilet tank (60). The flange body design is an improvement on prior-art since it acts as a flange to create a positive seal with the valve seat (68) of the toilet tank; thus preventing water leakage. This improved toilet flapper valve design can replace a standard toilet flapper valve without the need of additional tools or costly modifications.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2009Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Inventors: Anthony Camargo, Rocky Caleb Camargo

Patent number: 6571401Abstract: A flush and tap toilet water saver system is provided for use in the modem 1.6 gallon toilets that can utilize a flapper valve, a water supply valve which is controlled by a float ball, and a conventional operating handle. A main flapper valve has a bleeder valve installed thereon. The operating handle is rotated normally to open the main flapper valve and simultaneously open the bleeder valve thereby venting air from the main flapper valve and causing it to lose buoyancy and close sooner thus allowing only an abbreviated flush cycle in the toilet tank. When the operating handle is first pushed and then quickly tapped, the tap doses the bleeder valve and cuts off the venting air which causes the flapper valve to maintain full buoyancy and only close when the valve pusher mechanism rotates a valve pusher to force the flapper valve closed just when 1.6 gallons of water is released.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2002Date of Patent: June 3, 2003Inventor: Joseph Jack Comparetti

The tank ball assembly includes a holder base pivoted to the overflow tube, a stopper pivoted to the holder base, an adjustment valve fastened to a bottom side of the stopper, a first lift chain adapted to lift the holder base with the stopper and the adjustment valve from the valve seat for enabling a first amount of flushing water to be discharged out of the valve seat, and a second lift chain adapted to lift the stopper with the adjustment valve from the holder base for enabling a second amount of flushing water to be discharged out of the valve seat.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2001Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Inventor: Li-Ching Liu

Publication number: 20010044951Abstract: A flapper for a flush valve includes a relatively rigid backing plate and a relatively flexible valve seal. The backing plate includes structure for preventing the seal from being urged into sealing engagement with the backing plate, thereby preventing an air-filled cavity from forming between the seal and the lower surface of the backing plate. The preventing structure may include at least one pair of oppositely spaced ridges extending a first predetermined distance from the lower surface of the backing plate and forming a channel therebetween. The preventing structure may alternately include at least one radially extending channel formed in the backing plate and having a predetermined depth.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2001Publication date: November 29, 2001Inventor: Gary R. Patent number: 6173457Abstract: A flapper-type toilet flush valve having multiple components. A float member component is assembled to a flapper body component. Both components are made of resilient plastic compounds that resist chlorine and chemical bleaches of the type commonly used in tank style toilets. A pair of arms extend from the flapper body component for pivotally mounting the flush valve to corresponding trunnions on an overflow pipe in the toilet tank. An annular recess in the lower surface of the flapper body component has lugs, and corresponding teeth are provided on a top edge of the float member component for mating with the locking lugs. An annular flange extends from the float member component near its top edge to form a first sealing surface. A portion of the lower surface of the flapper body component forms a second sealing surface. A replaceable seal ring is disposed between the first and second sealing surfaces. A mounting adapter, comprising a collar having trunnions is provided for overflow pipes lacking trunnions.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1999Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Inventor: Gary R. Higgins

Patent number: 5943708Abstract: An adjustable tank ball assembly mounted in the water tank of a ballfloat toilet controlled by two trip handles to close/open the water discharging outlet of the valve seat of the water tank of the ballfloat toilet between a full-discharge flushing mode and a water-saving flushing mode, the adjustable tank ball assembly including a ball shell having a bottom center hole, a valve rod coupled to the ball shell and pulled by a first trip handle to lift the ball shell from the valve seat so as to achieve the full-discharge flushing mode, and an actuating plate driven by a second trip handle to force down the valve rod in opening the bottom center hole of the ball shell so as to achieve the water-saving flushing node.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1998Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Inventor: Ching-Tse Chen

Patent number: 5924143Abstract: The refill device is used with water-saving flush valves which retrofit into existing toilet tanks. These valves normally do not allow enough time to refill the bowl to its proper level. This diminishes their effectiveness and efficiency. The refill device is depicted here on a two-level valve of the inventor's previous patent. It comprises a chamber (40) between a valve (20) and a plate (34) which rotate up off of an outlet (22). As the valve is lifted the chamber contracts. After upper float (28) or lower floats (66) allow the valve to drop, water pulling down on the valve draws water into the chamber. The water pulls a flap (54) shut over a hole (56) in the plate. The plate then supports the chamber which holds the valve slightly open, permitting a predetermined amount of water to flow under it to refill the toilet bowl. Water seeps under the flap at a controlled rate allowing the valve to completely close.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1997Date of Patent: July 20, 1999Inventor: John Stanley Harrison

Patent number: 5903931Abstract: A double flush toilet assembly is provided including a toilet water basin defining an interior space and an open top. A bottom face of the basin has an exit for communicating with a toilet bowl. A dual flush tube has a first open end at a first elevation and a second open end at a second elevation. Each open end remains in communication with the exit of the water basin. Each open end further has a lid for allowing water to enter the same upon being opened. A pair of flushing assemblies are each connected to the corresponding lid for selectively and independently opening the same.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1997Date of Patent: May 18, 1999Inventor: Robert A. Kolb, Sr.

Patent number: 5848442Abstract: A flush valve is connectable to a vertical wall of a toilet tank. An overflow tubular member is in fluid communication with the flush valve housing and there are clip members mounted on the overflow member for connection with a flapper valve. In a preferred manner, the clip members are mounted on the back side of the overflow member whereby the overflow member acts as a guide, as well as a stop for the flapper valve.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1997Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Assignee: Kohler Co.Inventor: Peter W.
