Patent number: 7185374Abstract: A discharge valve for toilet tanks comprising a flexible ringed hose held by a couple covering a center hole of the toilet tank and a handle connecting to a wire wrapping around an upper part of the flexible ringed hose. The wire connected to the handle bends and submerge the flexible ringed hose into the liquid inside the toilet tank when the handle pulls the wire upwards thereby allowing liquid to enter the flexible ringed hose to flush the toilet bowl. The liquid stops flowing to the toilet bowl when the flexible ringed hose goes back to its original vertical position when the pull on the wire is released and when the level of the liquid inside the tank is below the top opening of the flexible ringed hose.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2002Date of Patent: March 6, 2007Inventor: Edmundo Simental Rodriguez

Patent number: 5794279Abstract: A water saver attachment for toilets being pivotally connected to selectively cover a drain pipe within a flush tank of the toilets. The water saver attachment includes a hollow L-shaped water weight box having a horizontal section with an open top side and a vertical section connected thereto. A support arm is connected to the hollow L-shaped water weight box and a cover is connected to the support arm. The water saver attachment is pivotally connected within the flush tank by a connection device. The water saver attachment is pivotable between a first at rest position in which the cover seals the drain pipe to prevent water from flowing therethrough and a second flushing position in which the water saver attachment is pivoted whereby the cover is pivoted to selectively allow water to flow through the drain pipe. The water saver attachment automatically pivots back to the first at rest position upon completion of flushing of the toilet to limit an amount of water flowing through the drain pipe.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1997Date of Patent: August 18, 1998Inventor: Shirley Schwartz

Patent number: 5205000Abstract: A dual water-level toilet flushing apparatus (10) that allows a toilet user to easily and quickly select either a partial or a full toilet flush. The partial flush which is normally preset is recommended for flushing liquid waste while the full flush is recommended for flushing solid waste. The apparatus (10) which is easily installed and requires no modification to the toilet water tank (60) consists of three major elements: an overflow tube sleeve (12) that attaches to an overflow tube (64) and that has swivelly attached the back end of a floating inverted pendulum (20). The front of the pendulum is attached, via a pendulum/flapper valve link (24), to the front of a toilet flapper valve (30) having its back swivelly attached to the bottom of the overflow tube (64). To effect a partial flush, the toilet flush handle (68) is depressed and immediately released; to effect a full flush the handle (60) is depressed and held for a few seconds.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1992Date of Patent: April 27, 1993Inventors: Frank Z. Patent number: 5142710Abstract: A water saver being used in the toilet tank and which includes a discharge control and flapper tank ball for controlling the flow of water from the tank or reservoir to the bowl and with the water saver further having a generally cylindrical configuration with an open top and a closed bottom defining a water retaining chamber, with the chamber extending upwardly above the flapper tank ball and being designed to retain a fill of a certain first quantity of water. Pivotal opening of the water saver while tipping a portion of the water outwardly of the enclosure, will not dischasrge any appreciable amount of water so as to permit a more positive seal of the water saver resting on the top of the flapper tank ball which is upon the discharge drain opening.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1991Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Inventor: Olof Olson

Patent number: 5105480Abstract: A pivoting cup is mounted on the flap valve of a toilet. Two flexible actuating elements control the position of the cup. The amount of water used for a flush depends on the orientation of the cup. If the cup is selectively oriented to hold water, a partial level flush can be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1990Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Inventors: Anthony L. Howell, Thomas A. Howell

Patent number: 4872473Abstract: A reversible buoyant and non-buoyant flush tank valve is adapted for use in various types of flush tanks each having different selective valve operating attachments for moving the valve. The valve for use in one type of tank includes an elongated base with opposite end portions with a valve operating attachment selectivity at one end for opening and closing the valve. The other end portion of the valve is selectively attachable to the overflow pipe. The base has opposite sides with a vertically extending hollow frusto-conical cup member on one side. When the valve is used in another type of tank the opposite end portions are removed for connecting a vertical rod valve operating attachment to a first and second oppositely disposed bores to selectively position the cup member upwardly for non-buoyant operation or downwardly for buoyant operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1988Date of Patent: October 10, 1989Inventor: Michael Agostino

Patent number: 4841580Abstract: A flush valve for use in a flush tank for control by the operator of the amount used in flushing, the valve including an elongate body having a solid generally hemispherical protuberance extending outwardly on one side and a hollow frusto-conical cup member extending outwardly from the other side. A tab and opening therethrough on the forward portion of the body for connection to the valve operating system allows the valve to be alternatively turned with the cup member facing upward and being non-buoyant or having the cup member facing downwardly whereby air trapped therein renders the valve buoyant for substantially a full flush. Spaced arm members extend laterally from the rearward portion of the valve body and have one or more openings pivotally mounting the valve to the normal overflow tube to position the valve with respect to the water outlet in either selected position.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1987Date of Patent: June 27, 1989Inventor: Michael Agostino

Patent number: 4101986Abstract: A regulatable flush valve for tank type flush toilets includes a piston-cylinder dash pot, a weighted (fluid filled) plug/valve, a cylindrical overflow tube and a fluid vortex generating element secured in a coaxial arrangement vertically above the outlet of the toilet tank. The piston and plug/valve secured to the overflow tube are lifted from a normally closed position by a conventional pivoting handle mechanism. The piston-cylinder dash pot determines the water volume of a particular flush by controlling the rate of descent of the weighted plug/valve. The vortex generating element works in combination with the walls of the raised plug/valve to generate an energetic fluid vortex as the water flows from the tank into the toilet bowl. The vortex generated by the generating element is complementary to vortex generating elements within the toilet basin to increase washing action in the toilet bowl. The above combination of elements significantly reduces the volume of water required for complete flushing action.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1977Date of Patent: July 25, 1978Inventors: Walter C. Ng, Conrad A. Wilgus
