    Abstract: A fluid flow device includes an actuator, an RF transmitter, a gated RF receiver, and a processor. The RF transmitter is configured and arranged to produce a plurality of pulses of RF energy spaced apart in time to form a sensor field. The gated RF receiver is configured and arranged to receive RF energy reflected by objects within the sensor field. The processor is coupled to the gated RF receiver for evaluating the reflected RF energy. The processor is also coupled to the actuator and is configured and arranged to activate the actuator in response to the reflected RF energy to control fluid flow. In addition, a new low power radar sensor operates by providing radar pulses that are non-uniformly spaced in time. In operation, a burst of pulses is initiated in the transmitter. Between each burst is a period of rest time in which the transmitter is not transmitting RF energy.

In this case, the toilet flushing system is an adaptive system, since it converts a conventional toilet into an automatic flushing toilet. The adaptive system also comprises a pair of infrared light sources and sensors located on forwardly protruding portions of the tank lid. The sensors are located forwardly of the water tank or water chest of the toilet and the timing is adjusted so that raising and lowering of the lid of the toilet seat will not interfere with operation of the sensors. A control circuit is also provided and mounted on the underside of the replaceable water tank cover plate.

    Abstract: An air treatment device for conditioning air within a conventional toilet bowl includes an air treatment assembly and an automatic flush mechanism. The air treatment assembly includes a cylindrical housing mounted to the rear of the toilet bowl rim with the toilet seat and lid swingably mounted thereto and an air duct having a free end extending into the toilet bowl proper. A seal underlying the toilet seat contacts the toilet bowl rim when the seat is in a horizontal position. Included within the housing are fans which draw air through the duct and a carbon filter to treat the air drawn therethrough. A flush assembly includes a motorized arm having a free end attached to the conventional flapper found in the water tank of the toilet bowl. Upon powering the motor, the arm moves the linked flapper valve from its normal closure position which allows the water to escape from the tank and flush the toilet bowl.

A foot pedal selectively operates the bowl valve, wherein when in an open state all the liquid in the bowl is drained. Upon release of the foot pedal, the bowl valve is returned to the closed state. Flush water from the tank is then delivered to the bowl to restore the trap water.

The disk engages with a conventional flushing assembly sited in the tank. The sensor actuates the motor to rotate when the sensor detects the presence and exit of a user, thereby flushing the toilet.

    Abstract: An automatic toilet seat device which will cause a toilet seat to be either raised or lowered at the push of a single button and further, will automatically lower the toilet seat after the flush action of the toilet. A first switch associated with the device will, when activated, cause the toilet seat to be raised by an electric motor. Once the toilet user has flushed the toilet, a float switch associated with a tank of the toilet will cause the motor to lower the toilet seat. The control circuit controlling the automatic toilet seat device is microprocessor controlled and includes an over-current detection circuit. The over-current detection circuit will detect over-current in the motor when the seat is completely raised or lowered such that the microprocessor will stop the motor from turning.

    Abstract: A tank toilet with a ball cock, flap valve, or other type of flush valve that is opened manually by lever operating a chain or the like is retrofitted and also made to operate electrically by installation in the tank of the toilet of a float that rides on a substantially vertical shaft that constrains motion of the float. The float is connected by a floating chain to the flush valve. When the flush tank is empty or nearly empty, the float sinks near the bottom of the shaft, where it is held in place by a sear as the tank fills. A solenoid located above the water level is connected to the sear by a lever. When the solenoid is energized, the sear is withdrawn, permitting the float to rise on the shaft, pull the plastic chain, and operate the flush valve. The electrically-operated flushing system does not interfere with manual operation of the flushing lever of the toilet.

    Abstract: A toilet system designed to use recycled "gray water". The toilet includes a toilet reservoir positioned above a toilet bowl with a first conduit connecting the reservoir with the bowl. A sinkable sphere, which acts as a discharge valve for the reservoir, seats on an inner surface of a cone-shaped, resilient valve seat positioned on top of the first conduit. A valve lifter is positioned below the sphere to selectively lift the sphere off the valve seat to open the reservoir valve and drain "gray water" into the bowl. The toilet bowl also has a bowl valve for releasing "black water" from the toilet bowl through a second conduit. Controls are provided to permit an operator to independently control both the "gray water" coming into the toilet bowl and the "black water" exiting the toilet bowl.

    Abstract: A deenergized solenoid operated valve normally closes the drain line of a sink, basin, tub or toilet bowl, the valve thus serving as a stopper. A float responsive switch will also energize the solenoid to retract the valve and open the drain if water accumulates from a leaky faucet. Whenever water is drained, the low pressure or vacuum that results produces an accompanying venting action. The invention may be used with a P or S-type drain connection and/or with a conventional stack vent, but does not require that any of these be employed.

    Abstract: The present apparatus for a toilet has the following features:(1) a spray conduit in a recess in the bottom of the toilet seat at the back;(2) a fluid-tight, rotatable water supply fitting aligned with the hinge axis of the toilet seat and connecting the spray conduit in the seat to an external water pipe;(3) a switch-operated valving arrangement for purging the spray conduit in the seat of standing water and filling it with hot water, and then causing the spraying operation to take place;(4) a switch-operated mechanism for flushing the toilet;(5) a pressure switch in the toilet seat to prevent spraying or flushing except when the seat is down and a person is seated on it; and(6) wiring extending through a tubular safety frame for the toilet to switches at the front for the valving arrangement and the toilet flushing mechanism.
