    Abstract: A seat for a collapsible invalid wheelchair comprising: a flexible padded seat; an elongated, generally rectangular opening in the seat; reinforcing means located within the seat and at the underside of the seat respectively on either side of the said opening; flanges on the underside of the seat; a removable waste-receiving receptacle sliding in said flanges and extending over the full length of said opening; and a detachable flexible padded flap adapted to close said opening after the receptacle has been removed; the arrangement being such that the removal and closing of the flap, and the insertion and removal of the receptacle can all be accomplished by the chair occupant without leaving the chair.

    Abstract: The invention is a device to assist people who are incapacitated by age, injury, illness, or other causes, to eliminate body waste. The device may be used while in bed or while seated. The device consists of two segments. A first segment (in conjunction with the second segment) is used when the user is confined to a bed. A second segment is combined with the first segment for use when the user is able to sit up, as in a chair. The first segment consists of a pair of side supports which are fastened to the second segment and may be set at various angles in relation to the horizontal. A transverse member is affixed to the side supports, the transverse member having suitable leg rests therein to support the user's legs at various angles in a plurality of positions to assist in the human waste elimination.

    Abstract: A wheelchair for the transportation of a disabled person throughout the cabin of a transportation vehicle and into a lavatory of the vehicle having a bench type toilet, the wheelchair having a seat stabilizer extendable therefrom to engage the top surface of the toilet, a translating seat assembly for the disabled person with a seat opening transferable over the toilet opening, and a slidable foot rest for the person during transportation on the vehicle and when using the toilet. To prevent sidewise tipping, stabilizer bars can be moved outwardly from the sides of the seat assembly to engage the top surface of the toilet.

    Abstract: A travel chair includes a back pivotable both forwardly and rearwardly and pivotable underneath the chair to form a generally triangular arrangement for ease in carrying and further includes detachable wheels for use of the chair in automobiles and the like. The chair further includes a pair of spring means for biasing the rear legs in a rearward direction and means for removably securing and adjusting the footrests, as well as spring-biasing means for urging the rear handles in a locked position. Finally, front handles are pivotable in vertical and horizontal directions, and a head restraint is provided.
