Abstract: A process for making multi-colored fabrics from a single dye formula is described. The process involves providing a substrate including synthetic fibers, with the substrate having defined regions where the synthetic fibers have differing levels of fiber orientation, and dyeing the substrate with a dye bath containing at least one dye from at least two of the categories of a) high contrast dyes, 2) medium contrast dyes and c) low contrast dyes, to thereby produce a multi-colored substrate from a single dye formula. The substrates are characterized by having a base of a first color and patterned regions of a different color, with the regions of different colors corresponding to regions of different levels of fiber orientation.
