  • Patent number: 7033490
Abstract: A floating, multi-directional liquid skimming device, comprising a perimeter frame attached to a net, where the frame rotates relative to a central axis. A central axis element may be attached to a pole handle. Floatation elements can be located along the central axis. In operation, the frame floats at rest with the frame roughly parallel to the surface of the liquid, and where the top edge of the frame is above the liquid surface to retain collected debris. When the device is pulled toward the operator, the frame swivels relative to the surface, so the frame opening is facing the direction of travel, enabling capture of floating material. When the skimmer motion is stopped, inherent floatation causes the frame to quickly swivel back to the resting position. If the skimmer is pushed away from the operator, the frame opening swivels to face the new direction of travel.

  • Patent number: 7011045
Abstract: A generally horizontal platform has connected to a first end thereof a sloping ramp that extends into the water of a swimming pool. The ramp is provided with traction enhancing ribs to enable a pet to extricate itself from a pool should it accidentally fall in or tire from swimming. In a first embodiment, adjustable legs sit on the bottom of the pool and support a first end of the ramp while the horizontal platform is secured to decking to prevent its horizontal and vertical movement relative to the upper edge of the pool. In a second embodiment, a second ramp is connected to the opposite end of the horizontal platform and legs support the second ramp on a ground portion external to the pool. In a third embodiment, the ramp is cantilevered over the pool and buoyancy within the submersed sloping ramp provides support.

  • Patent number: 6868562
Abstract: A skimmer protector having an integral blow tube is formed from two parts. First, a hollow, blow-molded body of resilient thermoplastic resin material having a cylindrical projection on one end with external screw threads for threading into the intake pipe of a swimming pool skimmer. Second, an open integral tube running from and through said screw threaded portion to an opening elsewhere on its blow-molded body. The cylindrical projection on the body of the device is intended and designed to be threaded into the intake pipe or other part of a pool skimmer. When connected thereto, the skimmer protector is positioned to absorb/buffer the forces exerted by the expansion of ice as it freezes within the walled regions of the skimmer. Welding the aforesaid integral tube to the body serves to create a hermetically sealed air space between the tube and the outer walls of the body. This hermetically sealed air space helps to resiliently stiffen the body of the skimmer protector.

The discharge unit is preferably laterally displaced. Preferably, a timer mechanism is provided to adjust the amount of water discharged into the body of water. In preferred embodiments, the discharge unit is configured in the shape of a natural object, such as a animal native to the locality (e.g., frog, turtle, rabbit, etc.), a non-native animal (e.g., a dolphin, whale, seal, bear, etc.), a natural or unnatural object or the like.

  • Patent number: 6604254
Abstract: A pool cleaning device includes a housing assembly that has a base portion. The foot portion is for resting on a deck of a pool. A handle member slidably extends through the base portion of the housing assembly. The handle is to be gripped by hands of a user. The handle member is linearly oscillatable along an axis of the handle member. A head assembly is coupled to the handle member. The head assembly is positioned below the housing assembly such that the head assembly engages the walls of the pool. The head assembly is for facilitating cleaning of the walls of the pool when the handle member is oscillated along the axis of the handle member.

Abstract: A handrail is defined by a main tubular body formed of a non-corrosive, rigid vinyl material. The handrail includes a first open end, a second open end and a mid-section extending therebetween, with at least one curved portion formed along the mid-section. One or more rigid inserts are fitted within a hollow interior of the handrail for providing rigidity and strength and for reducing bending and flexing of the handrail when a load is applied thereto. The opposite first and second open ends of the handrail are covered with caps to provide a watertight seal which prevents moisture from entering the hollow interior. The rigid inserts may also be capped at opposite ends to protect against corrosion.

  • Patent number: 6598243
Abstract: A wind sensitive operating system for swimming pools would enable swimming pools to activate cleaning systems during times of high winds. Currently swimming pools cannot sense high wind conditions and altar their running conditions accordingly. This invention would have a control box which could sense high winds and start up swimming pool cleaning systems at a predetermined wind velocity and a predetermined time length of high wind.

  • Patent number: 6588031
Abstract: A bath tap fitting is composed in the known way of a securing device which can be attached to a mounting plate and a movable outlet spout fitted to this. The securing device comprises a securing body which is composed of a lower part and an upper part which can be pushed onto the lower part so that it cannot turn but can be adjusted for height. An adjusting bush is axially fitted in the upper part of the securing body, which however can be turned. It has in the lower area an outer thread, with which it is screwed into a threaded hole of the lower part of the securing body. By turning the adjusting bush therefore the height of the upper part can be changed in comparison to the lower part. The upper part grips over the lower part with a skirt which is divided into segments from below by axis-parallel slits and has an outer thread there.

Abstract: A removable swimming pool border for use with a swimming pool having a sidewall and a pool liner includes a flexible facestock layer made of polymeric material. The facestock layer has design indicia on one side thereof. A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is located on the second side of the facestock opposite the design indicia side for removably attaching the swimming pool border to the pool liner of the swimming pool. A removable liner layer is attached to the surface of the pressure sensitive adhesive layer for protecting the pressure sensitive adhesive layer prior to use. The swimming pool border is adhesively attached to the pool liner by the pressure sensitive adhesive layer when the swimming pool border is in use. The swimming pool border is removably attached to the pool liner along a top inner edge of the swimming pool such that the water level of the swimming pool lies along the height of the swimming pool border when the swimming pool border is in use.
