Patent number: 11959263Abstract: A drain for sanitary fixtures such as sinks, tubs or the like is described. The drain is provided with an automatic overflow mechanism, of the magnetic type, configured to be automatically activated when the water level in the sanitary fixture reaches the maximum level allowed. The overflow mechanism comprises a first magnetic element arranged on a stem of the plug, and a second magnetic element integral with the head of the plug and in-between the base and the first magnetic element. In the raised position of the plug, corresponding to the raised position of the head, the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element are magnetically coupled. When a threshold value of the water pressure acting on the head is exceeded, the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element are automatically uncoupled, causing the descent of the head towards the lowered position, corresponding to the opening of the mouth of the sanitary fixture initially closed by the plug.Type: GrantFiled: November 11, 2019Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: RAVANI S.r.l.Inventors: Federico Stefini, Marco Dalmazio Ravani

Patent number: 7530123Abstract: An automatic drain device for a sink and especially a sink without an overflow hole is provided. The device includes a magnetically controlled valve to open a return path for the flow of overflow fluid to the draining pipe. When the sink is about to overflow, water pressure increases causing the valve in the magnetically controlled valve to open a bypass path to the drain.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2007Date of Patent: May 12, 2009Inventors: Zheng Cao, Zhongyan Lv

Patent number: 7451502Abstract: A bath drain assembly for use with a bathtub having a drain closure device mounted to a bottom drain and a movable actuating member engaging the drain closure device such that the drain closure device is toggled between open an closed positions when activated. A control device is in electronic communication with a sensor adapted to sense water level of fluid contained within the bathtub such that the drain closure device is moved to an open position via the actuating member when the sensor detects a given water level.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2005Date of Patent: November 18, 2008Assignee: WCM Industries, Inc.Inventor: William T. Ball

Publication number: 20080178382Abstract: A pop-up drain includes a stopper assembly, a spring and camming members. The stopper assembly, the spring and the camming members are arranged within a pipe assembly. The spring biases the interaction of the camming members so that depression of the stopper assembly results in the stopper assembly sealing the pipe assembly. A second depression of the stopper assembly results in the stopper assembly moving into a position that unseals the pipe assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2007Publication date: July 31, 2008Inventors: Thomas C. Pinette, Derek A. Brown

Patent number: 6973685Abstract: An assembly for selectively blocking a drain to the passage of water. A drain emanating from a substantially circular opening in a basin, sink or tub is provided with a substantially cylindrical member releasably connected to the basin, sink or tub. The substantially cylindrical member is provided with a fluid inlet for receiving a pressurized fluid and an expandable bladder located within the substantially cylindrical member in fluid communication with the fluid inlet, wherein the bladder is sized and positioned such that when expanded, it blocks the drain to the passage of water. A mechanical pump is provided having a pump chamber and a stem emanating from it such that when the stem is moved, fluid pressure is applied to a hydraulic line connected to the fluid inlet for selectively expanding the bladder.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2002Date of Patent: December 13, 2005Inventor: Scott Duncan

Patent number: 6904623Abstract: A protrusion of the plug lid out of a bath tub is restricted to prevent the plug lid from being a hindrance, and water-tightness of the plug is improved. The plug lid is dropped into a notch formed in such a way that the circumferential edge of the plug lid becomes lower than the bottom surface of the bath tub. The packing closely contacts a packing close-contact surface narrowed from the bottom surface of the notch in a downward direction. The bottom part of the notch is formed into the horizontal plane and the plug lid is supported while it is not inclined under application of weight (such as a hydraulic pressure or an artificial pressure applied by a user) and the packing is protected from unnecessary crushing force.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2003Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Inventors: Ikumi Ohta, Masaki Ishigaki, Shinichi Ohta

Publication number: 20040255378Abstract: A filter guard for a pop-up plunger for the drain of a sink or the like which comprises a thin sheet of springy metal having an array of openings therethrough. The sheet is rolled into a cylindrical shape and fitted over the radially extending vanes of a conventional pop-up plunger. The springiness of the sheet causes it to grip the plunger vanes and keep it in place. The openings in the filter guard allow liquid waste to exit the sink but block the passage of discrete articles, such as rings or contact lenses, which may inadvertently fall into the sink.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2004Publication date: December 23, 2004Inventor: Anthony S. Tracy

Publication number: 20040019965Abstract: A protrusion of the plug lid out of the bath tab bottom part is restricted to reduce a possibility in which the plug lid becomes a hindrance and a water-tightness at the plug is improved. The plug lid is dropped into the notch formed in such a way that the circumferential edge of the plug lid becomes lower than the bottom surface of the bath tab. The packing is closely contacted with the packing close-contact surface narrowed from the bottom surface of the notch in a downward direction. The bottom part of the notch is formed into the horizontal plane and the plug lid is supported while it is not inclined under application of weight (a hydraulic pressure or an artificial pressure applied by a user) and a non-required crushing force is prevented from being acted on the packing.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2003Publication date: February 5, 2004Inventors: Ikumi Ohta, Masaki Ishigaki, Shinichi Ohta

Publication number: 20030041374Abstract: The SureQix Pop Up Drain assembly for lavatory sinks or gravity drained containers is disclosed, and developed by research conducted at http:/www.aquaista. com. When energized by an electrical pulse width triggered by detection sensors, an electric motor drives a mechanical arm connected to the pop up drain plug, prompting said pop up drain plug to impel upward, unsealing the pop up drain plug. The pop up drain plug is sealed closed by a second sensory detection, creating a second pulse width energizing the motor that drives the pop up drain plug downward, sealing the pop up drain plug. When operated manually, without the aid of an electronic motor. The pop up drain plug can be sealed or unsealed by applying slight pressure with the index finger to the exposed end of the pivot rod.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2001Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventor: Craig Robert Franke
