Patent number: 4723745Abstract: A point of purchase display including a sign and a fastener made of a flat formable strip of clear vinyl or like bendable plastic material with adhesive surface portions on each side which may attach to the sign or to surfaces such as a shelf, wall or a window. The fastener may be bent to form a loop around a wire or rod and the ends attached to either side of a sign, without any surface adhesive connection to the rod or wire. Alternatively, the sign may be supported from such wall or window with the respective end secured to the wall or window and the sign to form a wobbler. For convenience, the strips may be manufactured by scoring a continuous sheet transversely which sheet may be coiled for packaging.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1986Date of Patent: February 9, 1988Inventor: Gerald A. Patent number: 4683609Abstract: A handle for a shopping cart comprised of elongated tubular member having opposed securable ends. At each end of the tubular member there is provided a lock pin formation which extends outwardly thereof to be received in an arresting passageway of an attachment portion of a respective handle support arm secured to a shopping cart. A fastener element secures the ends of the tubular member to a respective one of the support arms and extends axially into the tubular member for retention of the lock pin formation in the passageway thereby preventing axial rotation of the tubular member. The end cross sections of each tubular member also constitutes an arresting formation which is nested in a retention cavity formed in the handle attachment portion of each of the handle support arms. This formation is received in close fit in the retention cavity to further prevent axial rotation of the handle.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1986Date of Patent: August 4, 1987Assignee: Cari-All Inc.Inventor: Antoine Trubiano

Patent number: 4513983Abstract: A shopping cart is disclosed with a point-of-purchase advertising display which includes an octagonal, transparent display tube, rotatably mounted adjacent the cart's handle. The display tube is mounted on a shaft which is journaled on brackets on the cart's frame, thus isolating the tube from stresses arising from abuse of the cart. Advertising strips are mounted within the display tube for viewing as the tube is rotated by the cart's user. These strips may be replaced through use of a temporary support, as trunnions supporting the shaft are shifted outwardly to permit removal of the end cap of the display assembly. In another embodiment, a portion of the end cap is separately removable to permit replacement of the advertising strips. In a third embodiment, the shaft is omitted and the end caps are journaled on trunnions projecting from brackets on the frame of the cart. Also described is a method for assuring free rotation of the advertising display, when it is mounted on the frame of a cart.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1983Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 4498592Abstract: A magazine display rack disclosed is comprised of a plurality of cages in a trough-like housing that may be secured on a display panel or wall. Each cage, which has a sheet or sheets in front to screen all of the magazine cover except its title and issue date, may be pivoted outwardly on the front edge of the trough-like housing to insert or remove a magazine through the open bottom of the cage. All magazine cages are ganged together by a heavy wire or rod so that in pivoting the cages to remove a magazine, all magazines must be held up in their cages. Any magazine not held up in its cage will slide along the bottom of the trough-like housing, until it engages the rear corner thereof. This helps prevent unauthorized removal of a magazine from its cage.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1984Date of Patent: February 12, 1985Assignee: Design Wire Products, Inc.Inventor: James Colucci

Patent number: 4423888Abstract: A store cart having a clipboard fixed thereto for retaining items such as discount coupons or shopping lists used in the store; and the support of the clipboard is by a loose but positive connection to the cart handle. The clipboard is swingable on the handle between a hanging-down position, and a generally horizontal position for presentation of all the store items to the cart user. The clipboard's length permits it to be also supported by a fixed frame portion of the cart basket, and independent of any foldable partition of the basket; and in each of its positions not interfering with the nesting characteristic of stored carts awaiting use.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1982Date of Patent: January 3, 1984Inventor: William D.
