Patent number: 9685103Abstract: A door with an “EXIT” signal which operates automatically includes a door panel and a light source. The door panel includes a first plate. The first plate includes a front surface. The front surface defines a plurality of pits. The pits form a predetermined pattern, in the shape of a word. The light source is fixed above the first plate. The light source emits light to toward the pits to illuminate the predetermined pattern in the shape of a word when the door is in a closed state.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2015Date of Patent: June 20, 2017Assignee: HON HAI PRECISION INDUSTRY CO., LTD.Inventors: Feng-Yuen Dai, Chau-Jin Hu, Yung-Lun Huang

Patent number: 9394732Abstract: The hands-free door latch mechanism includes two mutually opposed actuator plates to each side of the door, with the plates disposed vertically and orthogonally to the plane of the door. The plates are rigidly connected, with the connector bar also rigidly connected to the latch of the door. When either plate is pushed toward the hinge line of the door, the connector draws the latch into the door to release the latch from the strike plate. A horizontally disposed lock plate extends from one side of the door, with a transverse lock rod extending through the door. The lock rod has a tang that resides above the internal end of the latch when unlocked. When the lock plate is pushed down, the tang drops behind the latch to prevent retraction of the latch. The opposite end of the lock rod has a lock status indicator extending therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2015Date of Patent: July 19, 2016Inventor: Abdulaziz K H. M. A. A. Ahmad

Patent number: 8169317Abstract: Automatically operating a door system is controlled by an affirmative action of a patron. An occupancy status of an inside area is provided to the patron approaching the door from an outside area. The patron is directed to request the door be opened in response to an unoccupied status. A presence of the patron in the inside area is sensed and the door automatically closed, and optionally locked. One actuator is set to an in use status indicating use of the inside area by the patron. A door ready for opening status is provided to the patron. With an affirmative action with a second actuator by the patron desiring to open the door and exit the inside area, the door is unlocked and opened. Sensing an absence of the patron within the inside area, the door is automatically closed, and first actuator reset to the ready state.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2010Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Inventors: L. Patent number: 7571694Abstract: An occupancy indicator for a door, and a method of use, one embodiment comprising a magnet a switching apparatus activatable by a person, a signaling device adapted to indicate one of at least two states, and a biasing mechanism. One embodiment may not be comprised of a magnet but may be comprised of a bolt assembly having a plurality of biasing mechanisms. The magnet or bolt assembly, switching apparatus, signaling device, and biasing mechanism are operatively coupled to automatically provide a signaling device state upon the door opening.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2007Date of Patent: August 11, 2009Inventor: Rick Boerner

Patent number: 7068179Abstract: An apparatus for automatically opening a swinging restroom door is provided. The apparatus comprises an actuator, a control unit, and a power assisted drive mechanism that can be connected to an existing door closing mechanism. The actuator comprises a proximity sensor and further comprises a series of iconic symbols corresponding to predetermined proximity zones. The control unit is in electronic communication with the actuator with which signals are exchanged. The power assisted drive mechanism is in electronic communication with the control unit and can be connected to an existing door closing mechanism wherein the actions of the door closing mechanism are reversed and the door is opened.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2005Date of Patent: June 27, 2006Assignee: Sanidoor, LLCInventors: Nathan Snell, Rafael Rodriguez, Todd Krawczyk, L. Patent number: 4881335Abstract: A door sign device includes an actuator mounted on the inner door surface of a door that has inner and outer door surfaces so that a user can move the actuator between first and second actuator positions, and a follower mounted on the outer door surface so that the follower can be move between first and second follower positions that each correspond to a respective one of the first and second actuator positions. Coupling components are included for coupling the actuator to the follower magnetically so that the follower follows actuator movement, and indicator components responsive to the follower being in the first follower position indicate that a predetermined sign applies. Roller-type actuator and follower components may be employed that are mounted for rotation about axes that are parallel to the inner and outer door surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1988Date of Patent: November 21, 1989Inventor: Kamran Khoshkish
