  • Patent number: 6434868
Abstract: A three-message sign having internal light source has an array of side-by-side triangular sign elements. Each of the triangular sign elements has three transparent display surfaces with three apices joining the three transparent display surfaces into the triangular sign element. The transparent display surfaces permit the array to display a discrete message when the array of triangular sign elements is simultaneously rotated to present the display surfaces for a single message. Each of the side-by-side triangular sign elements has a internal light source extending from at least one end of the triangular sign element across the transparent display surfaces of the triangular sign element. Transparent and opposed U-shaped holders are placed along edges of the transparent display surfaces, each transparent and opposed U-shaped element defining an indentation for trapping the edges of translucent message display strips.

  • Patent number: 5626525
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention comprises a tee marker sign (90) which includes a graphic representation of a particular golf hole, number 10, which includes three separate tee boxes--a ladies' tee (92), a men's tee (94) and a championship tee (96). The tenth hole includes a water hazard that is depicted on sign (90) at (100). A golfer teeing off on the tenth hole needs to know the distance to the pin from the tee box. The golfer also needs to know the distance to the water hazard (100). As such, sign (90) includes settable distance indicators associated with each tee box and the distance from each tee box to the water hazard (100).The blue tee box includes distance indicator (102), that is set using selector dial (104). Manipulating selector dial (104) changes the value in distance indicator (102). Adjusting the selector dial (104) also changes the distance simultaneously in distance indicator (106). A distance indicator (108) and a distance indicator (110) are associated with the men's tees.

  • Patent number: 5499467
Abstract: An information stand with a plurality of faces which are successively exposed to a viewer. The stand has a rigid hollow frame within which one or more multi-face information carrier elements are positioned. The frame has a pair of unequal in length parallel vertical sides and inclined upper and lower parts. Each of the information carrier elements is fixedly attached to a rotational shaft. A plurality of lever arms extend in a symmetrical relationship from the shaft, each of the lever arms being fixedly attached, at one end, to the shaft. A free end of each of the lever arms is intermittently received within a shorter side of the frame. A weight descends under gravity within the shorter side and contacts the free end of the lever arm, imparting rotation on the lever arm, the shaft and the information carrier element. A powered drive lifts the weight within the longer side of the frame, from where the weight moves again under gravity to cause rotation of the information carrier element.

  • Patent number: 5497988
Abstract: A distance indicator (10) is provided that comprises a housing (12). Distance indicator wheels (22), (24) and (26) are provided through openings (14), (16) and (18) of the housing and the information indicator (28) specifies the point from which the distance indicated by the distance indicator wheels (22), (24), (26) is measured. An information indicator (28) is provided through an opening (20) of the housing. The distance indicators are controlled using selectors (46), (48) and (50). The information indicator is controlled using a selector (44). The distance marker (10) enables the distance on a golf hole to be calculated by groundskeepers and to be reflected exactly for any placement of the tees on a pin on a given day.

  • Patent number: 5255465
Abstract: A multi-display sign assembly, which is particularly lightweight, may be hung in a variety of locations which could not normally support such a sign structure, and functions in smooth, quiet, and relatively low vibration movements, the sign assembly including a frame structure having a pair of support bars, and a plurality of elongate, lightweight triangular members rotatably held between the support bars by axle bars which extend longitudinally through the triangular members and protrude through the support bars. A motor is connected to a reducer which regulates the RPM's of a drive gear connected thereto, the drive gear including teeth only along 120 degrees of its exterior surface such that when the teeth engage a secondary gear which is connected to the axle bar of one of the triangle members, that triangle member will rotate resulting in a new display face of all of the triangle members rotating to form a new one of three distinct display surfaces containing advertising or like indicia thereon.
