  • Patent number: 5077923
Abstract: A compact disc program display mechanism in which album covers are displayed on pages similar to a book presentation; each album having a selection indicia visually associated therewith for selection by the customer. The several pages are turned in response to energization of an electrical drive motor and gear train, controlled manually by customer accessible push button switches or automatically by a programmed microprocessor. Each energization of the motor serves to pivotally turn a pair of pages in one direction with the indexing movements of the pages being controlled by an opto-switch and the microprocessor for deenergizing the drive motor at predetermined page movement. Reverse movement of the pages is also conditioned by the opto-switch which signals the micro-processor to reverse the rotational direction of the drive motor. Each page displays album covers on both its front and back sides for customer viewing.

  • Patent number: 4831758
Abstract: A CD jukebox display unit is disclosed for displaying the program information on CD covers. The unit includes a housing adapted for mounting to a jukebox and having a transparent front portion. A plurality of frames adapted to support a compact disc cover are supported within the housing for pivoting about spaced and substantially parallel axes slanted rearwardly in the rear of the housing. A horizontal track is provided adjacent the housing front portion and supports a slide member which carries a knob biased forwardly therefrom. A finger is secured to the knob and projects rearwardly therefrom so that when the knob is pushed rearwardly, the finger engages a selected one of the tabs provided on each of the support frames.

  • Patent number: 4685232
Abstract: An indexing device having a container for holding a plurality of cards therein and a cover pivotally mounted to the container by means of a shaft. When the cover is opened by the force of a resilient spring, the card placed at a desired location is exposed. A damping mechanism is provided around the shaft of the device to prevent the cover from being suddenly swung open, which would otherwise be caused by the resilient force.

  • Patent number: 4644675
Abstract: A page turner device for an open book comprises a support for the book, and a power driven disc configured to rest on the top of the pages of such open book. When the power drive is energized, the disc will start to rotate while in contact with the open pages. The disc has a finger portion which protrudes outwardly from adjacent portions of the disc, and a page curler drive is used for creating a curl or arch in the center portions of an open page, so that when the finger rotates to the proper position, it will go into the recess under the curl, and as it continues to rotate, the finger will pull the page with it. When the disc comes to a rest position, the finger will have completely opened the subsequent page. At the rest position a cam operates a switch to disable the power drive until such time as the person reading again initiates a manual switch to commence the page turning sequence.

  • Patent number: 4498256
Abstract: An item input device for a data processing system wherein plurality of flexible page sheets with input information provided thereon overlap the circumference of a rotating shaft in the device main unit and the fixed ends of the sheets are separated by a constant space. The desired page sheets are selected through rotation of the rotating shaft in the winding direction and the reverse direction of the page sheets, thereby guiding the page sheets to the display location. The page sheets overlap each other such that the page sheet unit has the page sheet ends bound thereto separated by a constant space thus the page sheet unit is formed separately from the rotating shaft. The page sheet unit is taken up to the rotating shaft in the page selection ready condition by rotation in the winding direction, and the page sheet unit taken up is released from the rotating shaft by rotation in the reverse direction. Moreover, a clamping member for holding the winding condition of the page sheets is provided.

  • Patent number: 4406076
Abstract: The invention relates to a card index which can be fixed to a vertical wall or vertically mounted on a base, in which the index cards are held by means of clamping devices in a receiving compartment formed in covered manner in the upper part of the index casing and are individually released on operating a selection key and transferred into the lower area of the casing provided with a window-like opening for inspection, the cards being secured and locked in the clamping device, so that a reliable release of the selected cards is possible, including those cards made from a material with a smooth surface such as e.g. plastics foil and in which incorrect manipulations are not possible.

  • Patent number: 4254567
Abstract: A card index comprises a housing containing a drawer which holds a stack of punched cards. All the cards have punched holes in which a row of dogs in the bottom of the drawer engage and the cards also have punched selection holes in which selection stop cams can engage. Each card has selection holes in register with all of the stop cams except one. To select a card, a button corresponding to the card is pressed and this rocks a key lever to move the corresponding stop cam downwards. The cam passes through the selection holes in all the cards until it reaches the selected card which has no hole in register with that cam. Accordingly, the selected card and the cards, if any, below are pressed downwards and are held on the dogs. The drawer is released by depression of the button and is opened by a spring. As it opens, the drawer moves the cards which are pressed down on the dogs out of the housing with the selected card on top, but the cards above the selected card are retained in the housing by the stop cam.
