Patent number: 8528485Abstract: A cableway system for conveying skiers from a valley station to a mountain station has a continuous, and continuously moving, conveying cable, which is guided in the terminal stations via deflecting pulleys, of which at least one is a driven head wheel. The system includes chairs with seats for several skiers. The chairs are uncoupled from the conveying cable at the entrance into the stations, and guided through the stations, along guide rails, at a speed which is reduced in relation to the speed of the conveying cable, wherein the skiers sit on these chairs, or disembark therefrom, and the chairs are once more coupled to the conveying cable at the exit of the station. Skier-access barriers, are located in the valley station through which the skiers pass into the region of the movement paths of the chairs. A marking is provided in the region of the movement path of the chairs that indicates to the skiers the necessary positions for sitting on the chairs.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2011Date of Patent: September 10, 2013Assignee: Innova Patent GmbHInventor: Johannes Moritzhuber

Patent number: 8281509Abstract: A nautical navigation aid comprising a photoluminescent element and a light wave re-directing means for improved photoluminescent qualities used to enhance the safety of nautical travelers on waterways in conditions where visibility is limited. The navigation aid sign has a first rigid sheet member having an upper surface, a lower surface and a peripheral edge, a second rigid sheet member having an upper surface and a lower surface extending outward from the peripheral edge of the first rigid sheet member at a predetermined angle to a predetermined length, thereby defining an angled collar of the first rigid sheet member sized and configured to redirect light waves emanating from a light source, and a luminescent layer. It is envisioned that an embodiment of the present invention might also include a means for retrofitting existing nautical navigation aids with a photoluminescent element and a light wave re-directing means for improved photoluminescent qualities.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2010Date of Patent: October 9, 2012Inventor: Edwin Perez

Patent number: 7685753Abstract: An illuminated, shallow weatherproof signage character has individual three dimensional back-lighted/front/side and/or silhouette-lighting, with frosted areas of plastic, with virtually no limitation on the size or number of individual characters, which may be moulded or machined from solid plastic, which is U/V protected. Miniature, preferably LED lamps are concealed in the character. The life of the LED lamps is extended by limiting the applied voltage and the “on” time. The signage characters are usually elevated from their supporting surface, to effect back-lighting. Colored LED's or a RBG LED, can be used selectively to color the plastic signage.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2006Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Inventor: Darrel R. Slowski

Patent number: 7578597Abstract: An outdoor lighting fixture that is capable of being mounted flush with a mounting surface is provided. In one embodiment, the outdoor lighting fixture contains a housing having an upper and lower portion. A light source is in operable communication with the housing and can provide light in a direction that is substantially parallel to the mounting surface. It has been discovered that the outdoor lighting fixture of the present invention can be mounted substantially flush with a mounting surface so that it remains relatively hidden from view during use. Furthermore, the outdoor lighting fixture can also provide light in a linear direction, thereby enabling it to illuminate paths, sidewalks, driveways and the like, without having to provide light in all directions.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2002Date of Patent: August 25, 2009Assignee: Hubbell IncorporatedInventors: Brandon C. Publication number: 20080209829Abstract: An anchor plug for use capping in-ground anchors is disclosed. The anchor plug may be used in capping masonry anchors located in pool decks, for example, capping the anchors used to retain pool covers. The anchor plug typically has a cylindrical body, for example, a hollow circular cylindrical body, having a first end and a second end; and a cap mounted to the first end of the cylindrical body. The cap may vary in thickness from a minimum at an edge of the cap to a maximum at about the center of the cap. The cap may include human readable indicia, such as, safety warnings or provider name. The anchor plug may minimize or prevent personal injury or damage to the anchor.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 3, 2008Publication date: September 4, 2008Inventor: Thomas E. Lucas

Patent number: 6231206Abstract: The present invention is a fiber-optic floor lighting display which comprises an icon 20, an 30 interface, a light source not shown, and a fiber-optic cable 40. The icon is adapted to be walked on by pedestrian traffic. The icon has a top and a bottom, and it is adapted to transmit light. The interface is also adapted to transmit light. The interface has a top and a bottom, and the top of the interface is secured to the bottom of the icon. The icon and the interface are mounted in a terrazzo floor system. The fiber-optic cable has at least one optical fiber. The optical fiber has an entry end and an exit end. The entry end of the optical fiber is adapted to receive light from the light source, and the exit end of the optical fiber is secured to the bottom of the interface. The exit end of the optical fiber is adapted to project light from the light source through the interface and the icon.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1999Date of Patent: May 15, 2001Assignee: NBBJ, LLCInventors: Lee Hervey, James V. Patent number: 5984570Abstract: A lane marker of the present invention utilizes a housing and filler to support and protect a solar powered energy storage system. The circuitry draws power from solar cells and stores the energy in 5-20 storage capacitors. When the ambient light dims, the circuitry operates a timing device which causes one or more light emitting diodes located behind an angled clear window, to blink in a direction generally of the approaching traffic. The top of the housing protects a solar cell which is in operating position is mounted above the filler and below a clear upper window. The storage capacity may be varied by increasing or decreasing the capacitance used for energy storage. The duty cycle can be adjusted to levels consistent with sunlight and operating time. Geographic areas of high solar radiation can use the invention set safely have a higher duty cycle without depleting the stored energy, while areas of lower solar radiation can use the inventive circuit set for a lower duty cycle.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1998Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Inventor: Amish Parashar

Patent number: 5771617Abstract: A display device that is incorporated into a building structure includes at least one rigid block composed of a robust grindable composition. The block has at least one light emitting device molded therein, the light emitting device being electrically connected to a power source to enable illumination of the light emitting device when in use. The light emitting device is visible from at least one surface of the block for providing at least one illuminated display surface in use. The block is incorporated within the building structure such that the display surface is exposed at and protrudes from at least one surface of the building structure. At least one surface of the block is ground to render visible the light emitting device for providing the display surface and to render the surface substantially non-slippery so as to prevent an object in contact with the display surface from slipping thereon in use. A method of making the display device is further disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1995Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignee: Gradus LimitedInventor: Paul Baker
