A cylindrical lens is mounted longitudinally adjacent to the LEDs, and collects a central portion of the light emitted from the LEDs. A pair of inclined surfaces extend from the lateral edges of the LEDs to respective lateral edges of the cylindrical lens. The inclined surfaces have a rough surface texture and reflect light diffusely. The inclined surfaces collect a peripheral portion of the light emitted from the LEDs, and direct the reflected light toward the cylindrical lens. The LEDs, cylindrical lens and inclined surfaces are all mechanically supported by a heat sink. The replacement lamp is placed into a runway sign near its top or bottom edge, and illuminates both viewing surfaces of the runway sign simultaneously without a diffuser.

    Abstract: A lighting device configured for projecting a unique lighting to illuminate letters, figures and shapes displayed on the top of the device is disclosed. The letter and figures are interchangeable and maybe customized to individual tastes and interests. The lighting device comprises a chamber containing a light source and a plurality of reflector strips disposed in the inner portion of the chamber. The letters and figures are inserted into a longitudinal aperture at the top of the chamber and snapped onto a lip that protrudes from an aperture wall. An inclined reflector strip comprising of a plurality of flat portions and angled portions directs the light toward the bottom and sides of the letters and figures that permeates through the substantially transparent material the letters and figures comprise to produce the unique lighting effect. Alternatively, angled reflector tabs are used in lieu of the inclined reflector strip.

    Abstract: An isolated access assembly for a back-to-back electronic display and static display setup. A central housing contains an electronic display with a static display being hingedly attached to the central housing on the opposite side of the electronic display. The static display can rotate to allow access to the rear of the electronic display without permitting access to the static display itself. A front door may be hingedly attached to the central housing and placed in front of the electronic display to allow the front portion of the electronic display to be accessed and serviced. A rear door may be hingedly attached to the static display to allow the static display to be accessed and serviced. A first locking mechanism may control access to the rear portion of the electronic display while a second locking mechanism may control access to the front portion of the electronic display. A first advertising party may be given proper access to the first and second locking mechanisms.

    Abstract: A lamp support assembly, retrofit kit, and method are provided for lighting a sign from an interior thereof. The assembly can be used as a drop-in replacement for high-voltage gas-discharge tube lamps such as high-output fluorescent lamps, and may be used to retrofit signs originally built for gas-discharge tube lamps with low-voltage, high-efficiency lighting such as LED lighting. The assembly includes an elongate support member for supporting electric lamp units, with end caps at opposite ends of the support member for engaging the original electro-mechanical mounts (or replacement mounts) in the sign. Thus, the lamp support assembly can be supported in the sign in a similar manner as gas-discharge tube lamps, and can be powered by a low-voltage power source, which may replace a higher-voltage power source in the case of a retrofit.
